Help!!!!
600-700 cal the first week, all food groups apart from simple carbs, no added fat unless it comes in fish or lean meat and don't do what i have done, I added no fat cottage cheese thinking thats good. It's not stay with normal cottage cheese and skimmed milk Also read the Newbie details on the side. There is some phenominal weight loses on here
I would end up binging on such low calories thanx though for ur comment
My dietician recommended 1400 plus 100 calls for milk. Got an appointment Friday.
Will try this got about 9 St to lose
Steady and slow. The only way it stays off.
Done steady and low for nearly 40 years, don't stay off This time I just want it off, gone. I figure if i get used to very low calories and the food that can be eaten, then it will train me permanently, worked for hubby, 4 years on and not a single thing in his 'red box of naughty foods' ever comes out. No sweets, chocolate, biscuits, deserts (unless on holiday but he puts up a fight) minimal cheese and no cream animal fats. Allsorts of healthy. I did the same but because I can't move much it always takes me forever to lose weight. This time i am busting it and to tell the truth eating fruit, veg and lean protien, plus sugar free jelly, I am actually struggling to eat all the calories. So now I have a red no go box with the forbidden in it, black gets closed after dinner and white has all the stuff I can eat anytime in as long as within my calorie allowance.
Thanx
I would end up binging if I cut my Cal's down that low but thanx
Have fun, because the worst is over if you have decided to go at this again.
Eat enough. Once you start losing weight and your appetite goes down cutting calories becomes much easier.
Eat food you like eating that is also healthy food. Learn to cook delicious food from scratch, avoid ready meals and processed food. Regular meals - especially if you have a history of overeating or binging. Enjoy what you do eat.
Don't give up if you binge or overeat, dust yourself down and start again.
Find some exercise and eventually sport or sports that you can enjoy.
Best of luck.
Hi Dawnie68,
Welcome to the forum, and I hope you'll enjoy being part of this community. Here are couple of links that you might find helpful - the first is the NHS 12 week plan (a healthy eating plan with a good structure and framework), and the second is our Welcome Newbie post (collated by a lovely member of the forum called Moreless):
nhs.uk/Livewell/weight-loss...
healthunlocked.com/nhsweigh...
There are various things that take place in the forum - various Challenges, and they are detailed within the Welcome Newbie thread, and hopefully you'll join in anything that you think you might enjoy.
Wishing you success with your weight loss goals. The BMI Weight Calculator is extremely helpful for giving the idea calorie range for your weight, height and activity levels - so I would definitely recommend having a look at that.
Wishing you a great week ahead.
Lowcal
I agree with Gonti's advice about the basic items you should try to eat. I have so far lost nearly 9st in the last 2 years, with some short periods off (for good behaviour) during this time.
The advice my dietician gave me at the start was to gradually cut down on the size of my portions of carbs i.e. bread, potatoes, pasta and breakfast cereals. Cut out all foods with added sugar, no cakes, puddings or biscuits. I have also gradually cut out add fats, none of my meals have fat added and all meats are lean. I have skimmed milk and fat reduced cheese
These are the food I do not have but I have found that there are so many other foods out there that I really adore that mostly I do not feel I have to do without much. My food today
Breakfast : 40g Fruit & Fibre with 1dsp of linseed, blueberries and strawberries.
Lunch: Granary Roll split in half, topped with smoked salmon, cucumber, mixed leaves and cherry tomatoes. 1 Plum
Mid afternoon: Small orange
Dinner: Roast Chicken joint with skin removed, 3 small pieces dry baked roast potatoes, carrots, cabbage and peas with gravy made with just water and Bisto gravy granules.
Banana and orange during evening.
I hope this gives you some ideas for what it is possible to eat. I do not normally count calories but after so many years of trying to diet I think like many of us on here I am aware of the foods that have a lots calories. It can be useful though at the beginning and from time to time to record what you are eating and check the calories, there could be somewhere is what you are eating that is lots of wasted calories.
Sorry to have gone on but just wanted to let you know it's possible to finally get into healthy eating and fight the demons that so many of us have leaved with for so long.
It might take a little while to find the low-cal food you really like, but it is there! So, for example, if you are bored with fresh fruit, like apples or plums, just try cooking them gently with a tablespoon or 2 of water and a dash of cinnamon. Try to find a recipe you like - veggie soup is a good one to try. You can do it.
Drink, lots of herbal tea and water based drinks will help, even stick drinks ( marigold are the best), it will keep you happy and your hands occupied in the evenings.
Snack on water based veg too, peppers, cherry tomatoes and stuff, good nibbles
Thanx so much
I would say that exercise has to be part of a way to lose weight. Brisk walking is a good way to start AND is free ...lol .
Making small changes ie; no crisps, ice cream or biscuits and changed to light clover instead of butter together with the walking exercises helped me lose just over a stone in 7 weeks.
My diet was already quite good BUT I put on a lot of weight since I retired and sat around for most of the day.
I have now started using "myfitnesspal" which was a bit of an eye opener ...lol
You enter your current weight, height and age and your weight goal and it gives you a summary of how many calories a day you should consume to lose weight. You can then record all you daily food intake and also any exercises you do.
I hope this has given you encouragement! Happy slimming !
