I also do shift work - not nights but afternoons and days and I have finally realised I just have to be organised and prepare stuff or I end up getting hungry and eating crap.

I will often do kind a stewy casserole thing which lasts me several meals, pack a bot of fruit, a few boiled eggs and leave it all at work to keep me going for a few shifts.

I just know that if I don't I'll end up being monster hungry just as I am passing by a supermarket filled with chocolate and donuts!

Good idea I am at different sites so can't leave good but I will boil some eggs & have them with spinach during the night ☺

I have worked nights for years and have yet to find an answer to bloating and flatulance. If anyone has an answer I would love to hear it. 😨

Sure this is no use to you but at least you know you are not alone. Working day shifts does not create these problems, it is definitely a night shift thing 😜

You may not be drinking enough. Try drinking more water. My nurse advised this when I said I feel bloated at times. Worth a try!!:-D

Hi this is so true, i have always been told that sometimes when we think we are hungry, we just need to drink more water. I have tried it, and the hunger and bloatness just went. I am now trying not to have food on my mind, and see if time will pass by quickly.

Hi HealthC

I am going to try and loose weight AGAIN!! Story of my LIFE!! I am on night shift all this week so i better practice what i preach and drink more water.

The better weather is coming in as is the longer days thank goodness. This helps with my weight as my mood lifts!! Good Luck to you.

I drink between 2.5 and 3.5 litres a day so I don't think that's the answer. Thanks though

This was the advice given to me by my practice nurse. Perhaps it works for some and not for others. I know too much water is bad for you also. No matter what we do sometimes we cannot win!!
