I just decided to follow the NHS 12 weeks guide to loose weight. I have never dieted, I am not very sure I will manage. Calories counting is driving me crazy and I am already starving....oooooh

You'll be surprised in what you can achieve, just believe in yourself. Healthy eating doesn't mean you have to be hungry - you body is probably in shock due to the decrease in calories it soon gets used to it. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water so that those hunger pains can't be mistaken for dehydration. Try and go for meals that feel you up for longer - I always find porridge a good one for breakfast and you can add toppings such as raisins for added flavour and nutrients.
Also have a clear goal in mind so that when times get difficult you can remind yourself of what you want to achieve. You'll get loads of support from here.
Good luck!
Hi, please don't let yourself get hungry, if you look at the calories allowed for your bmi you might be surprised. There's no starvation diet that works, eat more healthy and have healthy snacks if you need them❤️ I find nuts work or if I really need to eat ( lots ) crackerbread with cottage cheese, I can eat 4 at 19 cals each with chive cottage cheese and if I really need a flavour hit I splash on chilli sauce, obviously you need to add cals for the cottage cheese, hope this helps, x
I agree, my BMI cals really surprised me! For me it's about filling up on veggies etc at meals and some smart snack swaps, great example about the crackerbread and cottage cheese! I agree about the starvation factor too...if you are hungry you are unlikely to be able to stick at it for very long. Plus the body will likely go into starvation mode and hang onto fat instead - eek! If you make yourself a huge pan of veggie stir fry without the rice or noodles you will be amazed how much food you can eat for about 300 calories!
You will be fine Regine, just take it one step at a time. I drink Peppermint tea (no sugar) when I feel a bit peakish. It works for me.
Thank you. It's true, one step a time
Hi reginebews
With regard to calorie counting, have you tried the app Myfitnesspal? You put in the foods etc and it adds up the calories for you and gives you nutritional info too, you can also put in your exercise etc. Lots of folk on here use it, it's really handy.
Thank you! I will check the myfitnesspal
