Back in the far away days of the early 80s, when everybody had perms and wore shoulder pads, I dragged my ( then much lighter ) body along to the local weight watchers class, and came home proudly bearing the Food Exchanges plan Quick start week 1 in my hand. As I recall, I lost a few stone on it. I also soon after , met my ex husband and since he was fat, a total foodie, and a brilliant cook, my treasured plan pretty soon hit the skids..
BUT !! I knew I still had it somewhere -and yesterday, looking for something else, as you do, I found it.
And its still as strict but.. I think I can nail this. There was something about that little set of letters with uts B P F etc that made planning meals almost like fun, a challenge....
Im going to follow that old plan. I'll weigh in on Monday and see how I get on.
Good luck everybody and big hugs ! X

Good luck Libby. You are right, we all diet in our different ways.
I remember the WW Points system and the weigh ins were fun because I always went in a large group of ladies from work. The support system on here is terrific, so I wish you every success.
Challenges can be a useful way of staying focused. Amazing you found that old WW plan, sounds like you've been on a trip down memory lane. Enjoy going through it all and let us know if you find any golden 1980s nuggets of advice
I bought the book at the time, as well as the full exchange plan, its got weeks 1,2 and 3 where you gradually introduce foods back into your plan. Its also got meal plans in there abd loads of recipes. I knew I had it, but thought id given it away/chucked it/ got lost in about 12 house moves ( yes 12 house moves since 1980s) so pleased to find it again when I was turning out my books ( which were in a box in the shed !)
Yes, ill let you know what life for a dieter was like in the land of Wham! Bros and Bananarama x
Don't worry concerned - the 1980s w.watcher diet is pretty much old school dieting. No faddy stuff here, just basically what people now call " clean eating" chicken, fish, veg fruit cut back on bread and potatoes and no ready prepared meals ( except fis fingers as a treat )
