Hey everyone!! Just wanted to make a quick introduction (apologies if it's in the wrong place!)
My name is ElliotsMum, I'm 32, a mum of one and a student, and i'm here to lose weight.
I've tried several fad diets in the past, and whilst they work short term, I never really learnt how to maintain and eat healthily/portion size/calorie couting etc. So thought i'd sign up here for the 12 week program, and make a lifestyle change, rather than starting "another" diet!!!!!!
I've had a clear out of the junk from my fridge and cupboards, and have also signed up to do the couch to 5k, and will also do home dvd workouts (Jillian Michaels is my favourite!) and would love to find a local zumba class, and yoga! I've worked out my BMR and AMR to calculate how many calories i need daily, and will try to stay within those using a tracker (such as My Fitness Pal or similar)
Ideally, i'd love to lose between 30 - 40kg (which would put my BMI between 19-24), but have set mini goals first (such as losing 5% of my total body weight) to keep myself focused!!!
Any support, tips, a diet buddy or a friendly hello would be most welcome!!! Is there a recipes page/thread anywhere, or have i not found it yet!?!
Hope you're all well and have had a great weekend!!
Love and hugs x

Welcome Elliot's mum, I totally agree with the post sign! I always refer to shedding pounds, always burning off surplus energy....if you loose something, your subconscience tries to find it again....that's the theory behind the headline...
I think anything which gives you structure and a plan has got to be good. I lost the majority of my weight with no plan at all but my diet was definitely nutritionally poor.
I joined up to a paid programme of diet and exercise and it was a revaluation to me. I now eat more and healthier, getting fitter and still losing weight. So although I have no experience of the NHS plan it has got to be a good thing.
Thanks everyone for your replies and encouragement!!!
Day one has been a trial by fire for sure!! For all my preparation, i ended up in hospital for most of the day (all is fine, it was for a family member, and they are also fine!), and it took all my willpower not to cave in for vending machine junk!!!
I held out until i came home for dinner, completed MFP and am still 403 calories under my daily allowance.....so am happy with that!!
Hope everyone else has had a great day in the autumn sunshine!!!
