Into the Groove

Good week so far, 12 mile Hike up & around Sedburgh (North Yorks), a 5 k run & today a 20+ mile bike ride around the back roads & sea front of Southport. :) Struggling with a diet though as the more I exercise , the hungrier I get.

Wow, that's brilliant! Congrats on all the exercise, that must take a lot of effort (I know what you mean about it making you hungrier, I have the same problem, but I try to avoid snacking and over eating when I get home from running). Good luck! :)

Amazing picture! I love it when there's a mix of grey clouds and sunshine, really dramatic. Re dealing with feeling hungrier when you exercise, look at fuelling and also the timing of when you eat around exercise. I find planning to eat a good meal after exercise works well, there's all sorts of advice around about waiting until 40mins after exercise, or doing exercise on an empty stomach (e.g. first thing before breakfast), and then eating. Also for long bike rides I make sure I take bananas (great for replenishing potassium for tired leg muscles). Andrewleon on here has also been struggling with this, and has been trying a few different things, more in terms of looking at protein, as he's been doing 100mile bike rides and other such silly things. Maybe try and seek out his posts.

During these long hikes, I've found nuts to be very handy to keep hunger pangs and tiredness at bay..

They look tiny to keep me satiated, but they do wonders and keep me going.. Hope it helps..

You rock with your workout and training!! Inspiring!

I am INCREDIBLY impressed at your efforts!

Of course your body needs more fuel - as long as you eating healthy and not junk its totally fine.

I use Myfitnesspal along with Endomondo app (for cycling, swimming etc) and Fitbit to track my different exercise activities and it works well.

I can then see what calories I have, what additional calories I have generated from exercise and what my remaining is after I log my food.

Might help you to stay focussed?
