A saying on today's date on my calendar at work, its so true. I don't want to look back in a year being the same weight!!

It's got me on a new mind set, a year from today I want to be 5 stone lighter!!

Where do you want to be a year from today? :) x

Hi that's a good solid goal. Great good luck and I hope this forum is part of what happens next. It is really helping me.

What else do you want from life? For example I want to be whatever weight eating 1500 cals a day for a year gets me to, I want to swim in the sea in a wetsuit in January, I want to be fit enough to swim 25m in less than 15 seconds. ....

Hi :) They are fab goals!!

I want to be able to run!!! I go on the treadmill at the gym and out fairly fast walking but I cannot run, I look and feel stupid :( x

in reply toweedeepeachy

You can't run yet. But love yourself enough to believe that you will be able to. Love yourself enough to get healthy. This is not about what we can't do but what we will do as we get healthier. It is not about being deprived of food we enjoy but choosing to enjoy the food that will help us in loving ourselves back to health and fitness.

You will run....

Yoyonomore so true!! It is so hard to love yourself well you feel rubbish but...... I'm getting there. 2 and a half stone down 7 months at the gym and I will be able to run soon :)

I love my food and make sure I have treats every day i just don't go overboard.

Good luck :) x

Hi, I think looking ahead is a great way to keep motivated. I started in February with the aim of losing 6 stone in a year. I am sort of on track but maybe 6 stone is ambitious - but even if I go into next year being only 3 stone lighter it is better than being 8lb heavier which has been my average yearly weight gain for the last 13 years.

I see you mention walking - do you know (and you probably do) that walking or running the same distance burns the same calories it is just that running saves time. However, you are more likely to sustain injury running especially over 10km.

Walking outside the gym may help you burn more calories - a friend of mine just changed from running on a treadmill to running outside and lost 3lb in a month with that simple change and I am sure the same will apply to walking too.

Good luck with shifting that 5 stone and remember every lb lost is a step in the right direction :)

Sueper I didn't actually!! Just shows you. It's not so much the burning more calories I want to run for its just the being able to run lol

Àndrewleeone I know any exercise is better than nothing, but .... You haven't seen me trying to run lol I'll do it though, one day :)

Dave1961 excellent goal, what does that involve?x

Can be done with determination. I lost 6 1/2 stones in 12 months. Changed my lifestyle completely and still losing weight. Good luck to you, it's not easy but hope you succeed.
