Not a fan of the fitbit, simply because I don't want to have to wear it all the time. Agree withfibronfedup, tracking my food and exercise are key! I track both on HSK (health sidekick). Easier for me than a journal, I like how the site works off averages and not just what the scale reads daily.

Hope this helps")

I have a GPS watch which is fab for walking (or running) of course that is pretty much all it does but if that is your chosen exercise it is great, you can just glance at your watch to see how far you have gone. And you only need to wear it when you are walking (or running).

I LOVE my Fitbit Zip! I wear it all the time, tucked inside the front of my bra, and it motivates me to walk all the time! Since I've had it I've aimed to achieve my 10,000 steps a day, going out for another walk in the evening if I'm short on steps, and generally walk 35-40 miles a week. It syncs to my phone as well as my computer and I get a weekly email telling me how far I've walked the previous week.

Last year I walked the equivalent of Lands End to John O'Groats (as the crow flies) three times and got a nice shiny badge and this year I'm walking the other way but the long way facebook.com/johnogroatstol...

I've found a brilliant free virtual walking website walking4fun.com/ where you can walk virtual trails and this year I've walked through France and now I'm walking to Santiago de Compostela.

Do get one - and see your fitness improve!

I have a fitbit and absolutely love it. It has been great in keeping me motivated and I love being able to track my progress on my phone. I have used it with myfitnesspal and together they make a great way of monitoring your input and output. I have just earned my 900 mile lifetime medal from fitbit - over the last 12 months - and have also lost 31lbs. Good luck!
