HELP
Welcome, I hope you find what you need in this community. You'll find many motivational posts here! Start by dowloading an app on your phone to keep track of calories (Fat Secret, My Fitness Pal...), it's a great aid! Good luck!
Hey meglloyyd, welcome to the forum, lots of supportive people here who understand the struggles of weight loss. First I'd recommend having a look at the NHS plan, extensive information and tips on how to start off your weight loss journey.
Second, download a calorie counting app such as my fitness pal, makes it soooooo much easier to count calories as you can scan in the barcodes etc or manually enter stuff. Also helps to keep track of your intake.
Thirdly, don't go starving. Sounds silly but if you try and reduce your intake too much you will just end up overeating later!
As for exercise, have a look at couch to 5k? Its a podcast that takes you from super unfit to running for 30mins. If that's not for you then walking is a good way to exercise.
If you have a lot to lose I'd recommend breaking it down into smaller, goals that you can achieve along the way, keeps you motivated.
Best of luck and I'm looking forward to hearing how you get on 🌸
It's quite simple to start exercising as all you need to do is to go for a walk. If you are up to it, go for a brisk 30 minute one tomorrow. It's not just about calorie counting or dieting but eating healthy food. Keep in touch with us as you'll get lots of support here.
Hey, just wanted to say I know exactly how you feel! I'm 21 and in September I'm going away with skinny minnies and I weigh nearly 16 stone at the moment. I'd say buy a set of electronic scales, you can probably get them quite cheap on amazon or argos. When cooking weigh each ingredient separately then use a calorie counter app (I use myfitnesspal) and enter it in and it will tell you the calories of the entire meal
In terms of excersise I'd recommend maybe looking at joining classes at your local gym. That probably sounds absolutely terrifying, I know cause I was when I first started some, but I found it really helped. Not only cause of the community feel but I think having someone telling you what excersise to do can be really helpful. I'd recommend trying zumba if you enjoy music/dancing, cause that's what got me back into excersise
please message me if you want to talk more
Firstly I'd say you need to check thyroid gland, sugar etc... with your doctor because they can stop you losing weight and indeed make you put it on. Secondly really be honest and don't cheat on the small things such as just one biscuit or a couple of sweets. Try the calorie deal seems to be working for me despite my thyroid gland difficulties. Best of luck and don't give in be brave and stick it out.
Start by downloading the nhs 12 week plan, its a great starting point and a calorie counting app like myfitnesspal you can save meals on there to make it easier when cooking it again, really worth the effort. You have a great goal event to aim towards. Easiest way to increase your exercise is to walk, i used to bus everywhere now i will walk to town and back, or take a detour along the river instead of busing home. If you dont want to go out to exercise use google to find exercise videos you can do from home, find something you enjoy, for example dancing - the xbox 360 kinect have some great dancing games etc Good luck and all the best
