Day 2

Ok, yesterday was my first day and I managed to survive on 1,321 calories ( including an ice cream and 4 haribo's ) I know eating sweet things on your very first day of a new lifestyle is not great, but I paid for it working out on the wii for 30 minutes. I wanted to do some more exercise, but my back started hurting so I couldn't. - I've got scoliosis and my lower back hurts a lot. Anyway, I am happy that I didn't eat too many calories yesterday and that I managed to count absolutely everything I ate. It gave me some kind of weird control over what was on my plate and that everything was thought through. Today I feel great, (apart form my back pain) and I hope I'll stick to my new plan for a while. Do you have any idea what kind of exercise is best for people with back pain? I like swimming, but getting to the swimming pool is the problem as my car gave up on me :/ Have a great weekend everyone. And don't let the ice cream van tempt you ! ;)

Hey well done on completing your first day and feeling so positive about it, it makes a lot of difference when you feel that way, back pain is a nightmare, low impact exercise is good like walking, i use my wii fit board to do step ups in front of my fave shows when its not nice to go out, weather is a good excuse to go for long walks along the river or beach (depending where you live obviously) Have a good weekend

I love walking by I found myself not able to be on my feet for more than lets say 30 minutes at a time. I'm constantly on painkillers and I hate it, but hopefully it will get better when I'll lose some weight and stop putting so much pressure on my back!

hopefully if it keeps up see your gp, i suffered with a bad back since i was a teen, physio used to really help, but definitely improving since losing weight. Maybe start with small walks round the block for 10-20 mins then increase as you get fitter. all the best

That's a good idea. I shall try that tomorrow as now is a bit too late. Thank you

If you are serious about weightloss consider not eating sweets, even if you think you'll burn them later, it's going to be harder for you to stay on track. Good luck!

I'll definitely try, but it's my weakness. Thanks for the advice though ! Much appreciated. Take care !

I agree about trying not to eat sweets, while you keep eating sweets, even if it's only to odd one or two, you wont be able to control the craving for sugar. I have a very sweet tooth I love all sweets and ice cream (used to make my own). The only way I can deal with it is by not eating any sweets, chocolate, cake or biscuits. Now I know this sounds boring & when people used to say to me have a piece of fruit instead, I would just laugh because you just don't get that sugar rush with an apple that you do with a mars bar. Personally I don't think you can wean yourself off sweets you just have to go cold turkey! Good Luck.

Hi atunia, well done for getting through your first couple of days! You're doing great! It sounds like you have a bit of a sugar addiction, I do too so like jenever have cut out all high sugar foods and my cravings had gone away. But after my slip-up yesterday, I have been craving a sugar hit all day, I can't believe it has had such an effect and feel for me, cutting it out does make it easier to stick to in the long run. That being said, everyone is different and you will find what works for you!

As for the back pain, have you seen a physio? I had severe lumbar pain from an injury and strengthening my core helped alot! If you like I can message you the exercises that I was given? They're very gentle but effective if you stick to doing them every day. Either that or go to your gp and get them to refer you, it's so worth it, I know how debilitating it can be!

Best of luck and I'm looking forward to hearing how you get on! 🌸

Thanks a lot for your support. It's very difficult for me to stop eating sweets at all but I'm trying to do so by eating less every day. For example today I only had that little kinder chocolate bar. And of course I still stick to counting calories. I went to bus physio who was useless and all she could tell me is that I have a bad posture..- it's kind of obvious with scoliosis.. and then I went to a private one who happened to be my sister's friend, so I was lucky, and she gave me some exercise to do And did acupuncture and massages. It helped a lot but recently I've been hellping someone to declutter their house and my pain is back. I would be grateful if you could email me your exercises. Maybe you have something better than me. My email is beata_p@outlook.com.

I do understand, not so much sweets but chocolate has always been my absolute weakness too! You could try dark chocolate? Less sugar in that?!

I'll email you the exercises. Maybe treat yourself to a massage as well?! 🌸

That is a great idea. I'm going to try dark chocolate next time. I'm in a bit of dead end because I can't afford any more massages because I'm off sick because I can't work because of my back pain. that's why I'm left with exercise and hopes of losing weight to fix myself

Oh no, that's horrible for you that you can't work! Must be really hard! I've just sent you an email. I wish you all the best and hope your pain subsides soon! 🌸

Perhaps exercises like Pilates might help you. The exercises can help to strengthen your core muscles. You need to find a properly qualified instructor to make sure you don't do any damage.
