When I was 17 I had a Saturday job in Sainsburys - part of the interview was to be weighed, measured and x-rayed! I weighed 11st 3lbs! Today I am 72.6kg (11st 6 lbs)! Should I say that's great - given it's nearly 50 years and 3 children later - and just stay as I am - or strive for what (in my head) has always been my "ideal" weight?

It is amazing!!
I think that's amazing, to have maintained your weight like that is so impressive. If you've been happy with your weight over the years; why are you contemplating change? Having said that, if you have an idea of how you want to look...go for it. When I was 17 I weighed about 8 stone give or take a pound, today 45 years later I weigh 12st 6lbs and at only 5'2" tall I look a bit like Mrs Blobby but hopefully I will have improved on the weight when I have my first week weigh in on Monday.
Thats great to maintain that well you should be so proud of yourself. Do what makes you happy, just remember our brain tends to lie to us when we look into the mirror. Either way you decide to go you have done so well and worked hard you should be proud of yourself
