My 1st week and I've lost one lb. What can you do when someone takes you out for afternoon tea? It's rude to refuse your aunt when she's in her late 70's so I'm afraid I did indulge. Not too much though. Will have to try harder now this week.

It's a start.
Well done for the 1lb!
1lb a week is 52lb a year, that's nearly 4st. So well done for the 1 lb
Well done, there will always be birthdays, meals out , treats etc to deal with. The successful slimmer can do all these things as part of normal life but adjust overall eating to allow for it. Just carry on with your calorie control on the other days and you'll be ok. While I was trying to lose weight I had several parties and 3 holidays to cope with, including a 2 wk inclusive cruise . Some weeks I went up a pound or so, several weeks stayed the same, but over the eight months I steadily, slowly lost my excess 2stone and am now my target BMI 23. You will do it too! 😊
I lost my three stone in six months on the 5:2 Diet which is only two days a week, so fitted in beautifully around my other social events in the week. This was after watching Michael Mosley's excellent Horizon programme in 2012, "Eat, Fast and Live Longer" tinyurl.com/qzgo7tq or tinyurl.com/a8ppjl7 and I went from a size 16 to a size 10 by eating 500 calories two non-consecutive days a week. I've been maintaining my weight loss since April 2013 by just fasting one day a week - in the past I piled the weight back on as soon as I finished 'dieting'. I'd very much recommend you read Kate Harrison's book, "The 5:2 Diet" (tinyurl.com/qe6mz4u) - it really does work and it will save you a fortune (towards your smaller clothes!).
I'd also recommend a free app for your phone called MyFitnessPal. Counting calories is very important so you can see how much you're eating and therefore eat mindfully rather than mindlessly. There are excellent videos in the Help section on the app that show you how it works - there's even a barcode reader to scan in branded foods.
It's important you don't eat more than your TDEE (Total Daily Energy Expenditure) on non-fasting days. You can work that out here thefastdiet.co.uk/how-many-.... If yours works out at more than 2000 then aim at 2000 on non-fasting days.
Here I am in the Daily Mail on 7th January tinyurl.com/m7rqecq. The other two ladies’ stories are inspiring!
Here Michael Mosley answers many questions on it dailymail.co.uk/health/arti...

I know the feeling. it happens to me all the time. St Patrick's day is just around the corner.......so another set back, BUT I found that by being good with calorie counting after the deed and keeping my fitness up, it still work out ok. You will make up for it further down the line. And looking at the big picture, it is just a small set back. You made you aunt happy so it must make you feel good. A boost to your self esteem which is important and will give you strength to carry on. Good on you.
You did a good thing! Life is far too short to miss out on treats like that (as long as they are treats, not every day). I bet your Aunt would have been upset if you hadn't indulged a bit too. And ta still list a pound so wins all around!
Very pleased with myself as I went for a walk. The first time in 3 years!
