Buffet ideas please

I'm attending a celebration buffet on Saturday - don't want to ruin my success so far! Any ideas of the best things to choose? Thanks

Hi judywood,

If like me you have one day off a week, enjoy the buffet. I eat healthy Sunday through Friday and my day to enjoy things is Saturday. Alternative to this is to enjoy the buffet and have a low cal day the following day. You have to treat yourself. I follow this and still lose weight every week.

What's on the menu ???

Not sure about the menu! At a hotel - will wait and see and choose wisely me thinks! Could be some wine flowing too! Might have to dance......???

Depending on the venue they may have a menu on the web page which you could check out before going. Try having a look you never know what you might find on there. With regards to the wine, well we all know that leads us to want to eat therefore I think it might be best to enjoy yourself and cut out those cals the day after. Remember there are alot of empty calories in wine so be sure to count them in.

Oh and erm almost burned my cabbage on the stove writing this haha :-) Enjoy and hope you have a good time.

Have a small, healthy meal before you go. Low GI foods should moderate your appetite leaving you less likely to want to fill up on high calorie fatty and sugary foods when you're at the buffet. There may be green, leafy salad items, fruit, carrot sticks, and even wholemeal pasta and/or couscous and so on. TBH you never know what you're going to find at a buffet!

Good luck! (I know I'd need a lot of luck if faced with a similar challenge ...)

Added: I prefer trafford1's suggestion. I'd rather miss out on the day-to-day meals than on a good buffet! :)

Hey have a snack before you go so you dont feel as hungry and give into 2nd and 3rd portions. Fill plate with salad/veggies then eat what looks like healthier options, nothing fried, stay away from creamy sauces or cheesy foods. As less processed the better. Or adjust your calories day before and after so you can eat a little more at the buffet. As you say you might have a dance, great way to burn off any extra calories. Have fun
