After 2 days of seeing my weight go in the wrong direction, caused by snacking I think, today has to be a declared a no-snacking and very light lunch day.
At least I managed to finish scrubbing the lounge floor and move the furniture back, yesterday, and unbury my exercise bike. I had hoped to have a little more enthusiasm about the prospect of getting back on it, but I don't. Got to be done, though ...

The exercise will have worked many calories off, don't bash yourself too much. Good luck with weighing day.
We all have bad days, well done on admitting it to yourself (sometimes we all fool ourselves into believing that bag of crisps wont hurt) and good for you making a conscious decision to move on and get back on track. I have a cross trainer some days its fine other days feel like its the worst contraption invented lol. But as you say its got to be done
After looking at the numbers for the last 7 days, or so, I see that the rate I lost weight was - perhaps - a little too fast. This would explain why I felt the need to snack a little too much and eat a little too much at lunchtime.
Two steps forward, one step back.
Bike now dragged into position, running out of excuses ...
Set yourself a doable goal to start with say 10mins per day then up it as you start to feel fitter and more capable. I find my knees absolutely kill if i push myself too hard and with a job on my feet cant afford to push myself to breaking point, i started at 10mins a day (except when working 12 hour shifts) on my cross trainer now doing 15mins a day (except when on 12 hour shifts) every little helps and is a step forward
Oh come on, Mr FatbellyGutbucket. I challenge you! I still have to do my couch to 5K run today, which is a total of 30min. Get on your bike for 30 min, and then we can pat each other's back tonight. How about that?
It's set up and all ready to go. I want to finish preparing for a delivery that's due tomorrow (probably a couple more hours) then I'll be on my bike.
If it wasn't for the rotten weather I'd have gone for a walk or done some work in the garden. I have a hedge to trim, a patch of grass to clear (and seed with wild flowers), the footings to start digging out for some steps, a path to lay, some concrete to repair. Plenty to do on the inside of the house, too, but I'm not really in the mood for that today.
Dear Mr FatbellyGutbucket, I very sincerely apologise and promise not to do this again. You were completely right, I very much regret what I said earlier. I did not know that your powers extend so far that you could a) turn the weather into a horrible drizzle with strong head wind, b) which completely tore my bike rain cape, c) that after getting to the gym, I would end up on a treadmill right in front of a TV where some fellow gymmer put on the food channel with some dessert making competition. If it were not for the challenge, I would have given up 5 min to the bike ride to the gym, but I hated me, lol! And on the way home, I needed to stop in the shop to get milk. After the workout and the TV prepping, I ended up buying it all. So I really promise I will be much more careful next time, and will not dare you to do anything
Sorry to hear you had such a bad day. Still - if it wasn't for the bad days, how would we ever appreciate the good ones?
Next time you get a foodie freak gym neighbour imagine how much extra exercise they'll have to face if they eat what they're watching being made on the TV. You can watch it with a knowing, wry smile.
Get on yer bike!! One thing I do realise is exercise HAS to be done. It's soooo important. I think it speeds up the metabolism and you feel so much better afterwards (endorphins and all that stuff) I lose weight so much more easily if I do a daily half hour or fifty minute swim (fast non stop) I AM hungry later in the evenings afterwards but try not to eat carbs after exercise and late at night. The old veg bouillon soup works well or some crunchy celery, apple snacks with yoghurt dips. I also find those puffed rice cakes (with Vegemite which I love) fill a gap and easy to count the calories. I know, not quite the same as buttered toast or crumpets but I'd hate to do the work out then spoil it two hours later and go to be miserable and guilty.
I would be interested to hear about other's late night, non carb, low cal snack tips??...........
Can't disagree with that. When I went to school I was never one of those competitive kids, and never picked for football teams, rugby teams etc. (unless one of the school bullies wanted to kill me). Unfortunately there were no non-competitive sports so I grew up hating sports and, consequently, exercise. I'd try to spend as much time as possible dodging PE and doing something else. If that hasn't been addressed in schools, it should be.
Just eaten a couple of raw carrots - that'll be all, other than a mug of coffee, until Mrs FatbellyGutbucket comes home from work.
well done with the carrots....my nibble has just been a banana...lovely funny message. just getting out and about walking is a good start, I cant get to motivated to do proper sports or exercise either.
Sorry...hope I didn't dig up memories of bullies, showers, wet towels (for whipping) and sweaty boys! I think it was different back then for us (well, I'm a girl so maybe different in many ways!)...however...if you hated getting involved in sport back then it is harder later in life to do something you enjoy and when your'e overweight it's double agony to get into something. I was lucky as I was a keen swimmer, swam before I could walk (so I was told) and had a very ex-pat upbringing where there were swimming pools out doors and lots of sunshine. Then I got into competitive swimming at school. But ask me to part take in any other sport and I cringe. I actually get excited when I smell chlorine (creepy I know!) but that's as far as I go re exercise. If I didn't swim I think I would suffer the gym. Have joined in the past and got quite addicted for 6 months (at 50) and my body was the best ever, I had muscles I didn't know existed! But now at 56, and the last 3 years being a bit too comfortable in life and not denying myself foods I would have in the past I've put on 2 stone and it's just not me. I feel uncomfortable. I have my first weigh in tomorrow. I have no idea if I've lost weight but I DO feel better, so I consider that a good start whatever. I think there's more to all this than losing a certain amount of weight every week.
Enjoy your carrots, hope Mrs Fatbellygutbucket gives you something a bit more exciting when she gets in ...(food wise that is!!)
