Hi

....don't do shift work but am losing weight so I can have an operation too. Have been told bmi needs to be down to 30 before I go on the transplant list.

How does shift work affect your eating pattern?

Hello, I do shift work, I am a nurse. I just learned to take in acceptable foods that fit in with my eating (I follow Slimming World) and avoided all the cakes and biscuits we have at work! It is hard at times, especially night shifts! I have managed to lose 8 stone though in the last year, with another three to go. It can be done- good luck.

I dont do shift work but next door to office where they do. I can see how it effects eating patterns.

I have lost some weight by making a big batch of thick veg soup with eitherchick peas or lentils for protein each week and taking it to work to eat when needed. Make one large batch each week and take 1 portion in a box each day. Also take a sandwich.

whizz the soup with hand blender so it is smooth it stays in your stomach and if it has plenty of protein keeps you full.

Heat in microwave in a large mug and eat with spoon, or get a food flask if no microwave available.

Also get a pedometer and increase number of steps per day however you can.

Veg soup = fry some chopped onions, add chopped veg, stir and add chicken stock, boil gently for 30min, add tin of chick peas or lentils, blitz with hand blender. You can add curry powder to the onions if you like spicy soup.

Not what you're looking for?
