Have a good week..

in reply tobehappynow

Currently in week two, doing ok but partial to opening a bottle of wine especially in the evening...

I love crisps and chocolates, and biscults with cups of tea...and im not even hungry !

in reply tobehappynow

tea I really like...I am fairly good at resisting sweet things...worst time is late at night! Don't seem to need an awful look of sleep and as I have a little settee in the kitchen with the dogand its easy access to the fridge, cupboards and the wine rack!

Wanabe profile image
Wanabe in reply to

OMG that sounds bliss...sofa by fridge, dog to curl up with and wine rack! Who needs a man! I'd never move out of the kitchen. Get rid of that sofa!!

in reply toWanabe

I love my little nook in the kitchen...its now been diet proofed, the wine rack is empty apart from a bottle of unopened Port, the fruit bowl is full to over flowing, the fridge has carrots and celery and not much else and I am passing the time reading what other people are up too...a bit like Facebook for dieters x

in reply to

If the sofa goes then I would have to sit in the dog bed and as she is a Yorkshire Terrier I don't think I would fit....well not yet anyway...maybe by week 12??

in reply tobehappynow

hope its all going well and this week and the goodies are staying in the cupboard xx

I'm with you there girl! I've gone a whole week without unscrewing a nice chilled bottle of sauvignon blanc. First two nights were the worst...couldn't sleep a wink...bad!!! But third night was easier and now sleep like a log. Was counting calories too and feel soooo much better. I think it's just become habitual, the wine. Also found it made me nibble later on at night and you lose your inhibition and control after a few wines. I have two stone to lose and first weigh in tomorrow. But I'm not so hell bent on losing X amount per week...just want to kick bad habits and I know the weight will fall off if I keep off the vino (done it before) and eat sensibly. Once you start to feel good it gets easier! Good luck...

in reply toWanabe

Happy to give up anything just not the wine at the moment... I have never eaten breakfast so I figure calories saved there can be used up on wine in the evening! Lol however...I was consuming maybe two bottles a day plus a few gin and tonics which was worrying plus cheese and chocolate and crisps and everything else...I now share just on bottle a night with my husband and can manage two or three nights a week wine free....I enjoyed reading through your profile earlier this evening! Like you I don't seem to need a whole lot of sleep and late night nibbling had become a bit of a habit ....now coming up to the end of my second week and over all its been good, I also have bouillon in the emergency cupboard plus vegetable and chicken OXO...hope the weigh in goes well tomorrow x

You sound very much like me Lorraine. I was consuming two bottles a night too....it's scary actually and I know soooo very not good for our health. I am single so have no one to nag at me so I guess it's easy just to do what I want! I have a good life and am very contented and prefer to be single now (although I rent rooms in my house so not completely alone) but I've become very set in my ways. I'm aware of not just the calories from drinking but so many other things it's doing to my body. I know it's habitual...I wouldn't be able to stop for a week so easily if I was addicted and I never ever want to drink during the day. I AM dependant on it though in the evenings, I know that much...or have become so anyway. But to be honest I just LOVE wine!! I used to be able to drink G&T and the odd malt but not interested in spirits at all now. In fact one night I had no wine and shops closed (liquor stores here stop selling booze at 10pm in Scotland) and I had some whisky in the cupboard but couldn't drink it. So I went to bed! I think I have associated wine with food...I love to crack open a bottle whilst I start preparing dinner (I love to cook and always prepare everything from scratch so spend quite a bit of time doing so) and it's so easy to slide down the bottle and enjoy the rest with dinner and then open another whilst watching telly! I'll even go for a swim before I start the wine...come home about 9pm and relax with a glass or several till mid night plus. Then the cheese comes out or any other nibbles that catch my attention! This week I've been good and because I feel so much better I'm actually scared to have wine in the house. I'm clearer headed, sleep well and not bloated. In the mornings my face doesn't look puffy like it did and my digestive system is back to normal now. I'm sure you'll identify with a lot of what I'm saying. It's so nice to be able to be honest on here...one of the things I like about this forum. If people can truly identify with others and see they are not alone it makes it easier to address our issues. Thanks for sharing! I'll let you know what the dreaded scales say tomorrow, but it's more important to me right now that I keep wine free, eat well and try to swim every night now. You've got through 2 weeks so that's brilliant...it's going to be a long journey but it can only get better x

in reply toWanabe

Sorry to hear that no weight was lost, but the fact that your feeling so much better is a big bonus and a good start for week two. When I disclosed about the wine drinking and as I hit the submit button I had a sudden panic that I would be seen as a raging alcoholic! But like you it just became a kind of social, relaxing, down time thing to do, however I was drinking during the day when not at work, it seems the more you do it the more accustomed to it you become and it has little effect ....no hang over just a bit fuzzy and I could easily still be up for work at 5.30am and work well until 9pm however I am very sure sooner or later some health problem would have arisen! I think it started when my children left home as before that I barely drank at all...at the moment I am actually sitting here with a cup of tea! so something good must be happening. I worked this morning and straight after managed a good 2 hour ramble with the dog...coming up to the end of week two and I like the new disciplined eating habits...no complaints so far x

Hi

Same here I need 2stone off.

Trying hard at mo wd b great to try together

in reply toNarrell

Thank you for your response x so far so good...I am still motivated! over the last few years I have developed a hard wad of a abdominal fat....waste size 39.5 inches which has to be very unhealthy, especially as you get older! A lovely friend at work commented recently I remember when you used to thin"....so that was it!

in reply toNarrell

Lets do it! I am in week two, All is going well, it helped that I had a sore throat for four days, which put a stop to eating to much! My husband had a minor health problem in November and started to be more health aware, I noticed him losing weight, he is now 2 stone lighter than me!! so I cant have that....I work full time and have a small 10 month old puppy that loves walks which I well use to try and incorporate some of the fitness ideas...

Hi

Yer let's go for it I'm doing exercise at home and walking the dog just got to sort eating plan out .

I just hate my tummy I look like I'm 6 months gone lol .

Wd love to b a size 14 again x

in reply toNarrell

All bad foods are banned from being bought which is easy as there are just two of us at home, the wine rack is empty and we just buy one bottle a day now. I have developed an abdominal apron...have always had cellulite on my legs and bottom BUT now its on my upper arms which I hated last summer! x

Narrell profile image
Narrell in reply to

Well I'm eating salads and more salads which gives me bad wind lol

Plenty of fish .

No wine all week only on fri so how often do u weigh urself .x

in reply toNarrell

EVERY DAY!... as one lady wrote on here...first thing in the morning, no clothes on (not a pretty sight I am sure) after a wee and before tea. I was so relieved to note that some one else actually does this too!! I try to alternate food a bit, the Croc pot with beans and vegetables, some times just nice bread with egg or tuna...various types of salads. There is just the two of us so don't have to put to much effort into planning meals and also I don't get home from work til about 9pm....wine I can not give up, some times I can manage one or two days a week x

in reply toNarrell

hope your well...I am proud to report the waist size has gone from 39.5 to 37.5, work clothes are feeling a bit looser, good luck with heading towards the weekend x

in reply toHotdot

Good morning Hot...I am absolutely behind you in your weight loss goal! I got married 6 years ago (2nd time) my lovely husband has spoilt me with food and treats...10 stone went to 11 stone...and some how to 13 stone! I worry about the health implications and am also I bit vane and would like to look nicer. We went to a family wedding last summer, I found it hard to find something to ware, thought I looked OK...until I saw the wedding photos and video at Christmas and felt fat against my trim and fit sister in laws x

in reply to

I think Hotdot that losing 5 stone as you did was a major achievement and you should congratulate yourself ....losing 1.5 stone hopefully should be a breeze x

hi Lorraine just read some more of your posts around the wine, sounds like a carbon copy of our household, managed to go since last Sunday without a drink, . 6lb gone already but what a rumbly empty tum week it's been. just hope I can get through the weekend without blowing it. good luck with your losing, keep in touch, Dot

in reply toHotdot

good evening Hotdot....oddly no rumbly tummies here, no cravings for chocolate yet or Greggs hot sausage rolls x the weekend should be easy as I am at work...the work canteen takes ages to walk to and by the time you have queued your half hour break has gone! Well done on the 6lb weight loss and hope your doing something nice over the weekend x

Hi, Great you have taken a decision to lose weight which is a first and the most important step. I am there to support you and would be watching. x

I am 55 this year and about 3 stone to lose, have hypothyroidism, so very slow, but have great support on here and your very welcome to buddy with us. We get weighed on Sunday. Good luck.

in reply to

just wanted to check in with you and wish you luck with your Sunday weigh in, I am still not sold on the idea of exercise as such beyond walking the dog but with nearly 7lbs lost I am noting a slight flabbiness and a slight feeling of despair, no way am I leaping about in the park so might have to contrive so sort of kitchen bound activity...may be with a glass of wine on stand by...

Good morning and thank you for your reply, slow weight loss is good, I have managed 6lbs but have noticed my skin needs a bit of work to help tone and tighten up...I understand drinking water and moisturizing helps with this...I am not to keen on exercise although I love walking the dog when the weather is good ....

I tend to snack late night too, now I force myself to go to bed earlier (away from the food)! It is working at present but I have a lot to lose. Good luck with you weight loss.

Good morning and good luck too! I found I was going to bed so full and stuffed and waking up bloated and tired. I very much want to be disciplined over what I eat, too listen to your stomach when its fully and not be compelled to eat everything on the plate and indeed everything on the table x

I too have about two stone to shift,...my motivation is shuffled along by the need to also reduce my blood pressure!

So yes,...at 53 but young at heart even though i've recently become a grandmother...& love family life, cooking etc...you have a friend in me!....good luck,

This week, since monday i've lost two pounds, it's so tough, only another two stone to go!.....

in reply toelizabethcal

hello, becoming a grandmother is a lovely thing to motivate you to loss weight, no grand children on my horizon as yet but I do have a new puppy! This afternoon has been hard as I really fancy some thing nice to eat! But have resisted...drinking lots of water and a piece of fruit. My little husband is 2 stone lighter than me and I cant have that, although he is the cause of all this weight gain...he likes to stop off at the supermarket on the way home from work and cant resist buy one get one free offers especially on chocolate ect

Yes, I'll be your diet buddy :) I need to lose a stone but even half a stone will be good. I'm over weight and want to be in the healthy weight range. What eating plan are you following? I'm on the weight watchers points plan but frequently go over my allowance:( thinking of trying 5:2 but not motivated at present.
