A banana and oat cookie - made with just two ingredients. I posted the recipe on here. I think if you search my user name it should come up with all posts I've done. If not let me know and I will try and get it sent again. It only has banana and oats in! No sugar or butter! one has about 60-70 calories in. so not too bad and very filling because of the oats - more filling than 1 biscuit anyway! they taste like banana bread.

I also like raw green beans with a LITTLE almond butter or peanut butter on the end.

Hi Hope23,

I will have a look, thanks.

As a keen gardener I plant some green beans every year as nothing beats them freshly plucked. I tend to 'graze' through the garden in summer, a green bean here...strawberry there, peas in the shell...edible flowers etc. :))

Ah yr very lucky. I LOVE all fresh veg, especially from the garden. Save so much money too.

Good luck with yr weight loss xx

Green beans are the easiest things to grow, you dont even need a garden for them.

A large'ish planter, 3 bamboo sticks for the vines to grow up on and regular but not over watering.

Good luck with your weight loss too. :)

Hi Lin, would love to grow my own green beans - when do you plant?

What part of the country are you in? Mid May to June. They're frost tender so don't put them outside until all danger has gone (mid June depending where you are) You can start them off in pots on a window sill in April. Bear in mind you will only crop them for a few weeks so home grown is no substitute.

Frozen is probably the best (and most economical) way to get them all year. (the process keeps them actually fresher than fresh but does little for the flavour)

Hi Ida, fenbadger kindly answered your question :)

I never buy frozen myself so can't really comment on the taste.

Love veg straight from the garden but can't do so much with my knees. One of my favourite treats is ryvita with Marmite and banana, or with a small amount of cheese toasted under the grill. Remember we need calcium for bone health!

Hi Snoozey, I like ryvita too and love cheese! Marmite a firm fav too.

I think the Marmite is good because it's a strong taste, you know you've had something in your mouth ☺

Last night I had baby boiled potatoes, crushed slightly then in a frying pan with the tiniest amount of oil, salt and rosemary until they brown slightly. It was delicious and another great lingering flavour. And of course we need some healthy fat in our diets.

Speaking of flavours I find chewing gum a great help, it makes so many other things taste wrong so if I have a longing for something the gum gives me thinking space until that taste of it in my mouth disappears.

The baby spuds sound delicious. I think when you put care into the preparation of food it tastes even better :)

Funny thing about the chewing gum... used to love the stuff as a kid but find now - on the very odd occasion that I have any - the texture soon cause me to be a bit nauseous.

Very true, if you are counting calories then you should as with all food be aware of its energy content. I personally no longer count calories because I have found the high fat low carb lifestyle I now adhere negates the need to as the food I now eat has such high satiety that it's very hard to over indulge.

Sounds very interesting?
