hi all,: i used to be slim , size 10, at... - Weight Loss Support
hi all,
I would see if there is any possibility of seeing another GP to discuss your concerns and maybe ask outright to be referred to a service that is more qualified to diagnose whether this is the case it not! Maybe note down all the food you eat (at the time of eating), how you felt emotionally at the time of getting the food and after having eaten it, whether you were actually hungry or not, what size the portion was - and anything else you might think is relevant - and take that to the GP to illustrate your concerns. If you are laying down in front of the GP evidence of not being able to control what you eat and when, if there is an emotional element to it, and you can't control portion sizes - they should consider a referral! If not - ask straight out whether they are unable to refer you because of budget restraints or some other reason!!
Assuming you have RA (because you are on this forum), I am wondering if you are on Prednisilone. I have been, at varying dosages, and know that it has increased my appetite enormously,. I'm at a lower dose now, but the over-eating has become a habit. I'm definitely about 1.5 - 2 stone overweight and I'm pretty miserable about that. So are my knees. I'm determined to take myself in hand in the new year, but am not looking forward to it. I thought I might go to a health farm to get kick-started.
You have my sympathy.
I've just realised that this forum is about weight loss. I must have joined it in my sleep. So ignore my reference to Prednisilone, one of the drugs used to treat Rheumatoid Arthritis.
You might find some helpful resources by doing an internet search on 'Beyond Chocolate' which is an organisation providing support for people troubled by overeating.
