Sweet tooth

Hi all,

I have a real bad sweet tooth, aka i love chocolate... anything I can have as a substitute that will stop my chocolate craving?

Hi I love chocolate too. My friend found me the Double chocolate Alpen light cereal bars. They are 70kcal each so a lot less than a bar of chocolate. I save this for a treat at the end of the day and include it in my calorie count. It works for me. Have not had chocolate in 8 weeks now.

This weekend I discovered the M and S Count on us Chocolate frappe desert - 115 calories - I had this as a special treat this weekend. It is heaven!! I rewarded myself for my success over the last four weeks where I have shed a total of 5.3kg :-) very happy and feel sooooo much better already. I think an occasional treat is good.

Agree with the above. An occassional treat is actually beneficial on a weight loss diet. If you deprive yourself, you will crave it even more. Just have a little bit instead of the whole bar and include the cals in your daily cal allowance.....Goodluck..

Perhaps try some very dark chocolate. You only need a small amount.

Make sure your sugar cravings aren't being caused by letting yourself get too hungry.

I find dried dates are a good substitute for chocolate.

Try alpro almond dark choc drink and also Nakd choc orange bars. If you google for a recipe you can make them at home. They have only cocoa in them but taste like choc. Also I made a choc pudding using avocado and cocoa (recipe online) which worked quite well. I feel you pain as I'm also a choc addict but these have been working for me (especially the Nakd bars!)

Hi lisaj24,

It's like changing any habit.

What will happen as you take control of your sweet tooth and actually eat less sweet foods less often is that you'll find your taste changes.

I used to have a desk drawer packed with chocolate bars. I now find an occasional chocolate thing - literally say one Quality Street - is plenty for me.

One thing I did when I started my weight loss journey, was to stop eating chocolate except to have one bar (a 40g one) of dark chocolate which I used to grate over a bowl of fruit (raspberries / blueberries) and fat-free yoghurt. That way I ate much more nutritiously than eating a Twix / Mars bar / KitKat or whatever and you really notice the chocolately taste against the fruit and yoghurt. That one bar lasted me ages!

Maybe think of other healthier ways to eat chocolate, other than in high calorie settings.

Oh and like rolling sheep, I have become a bit of a fan of those Nakd bars and not just the chocolate flavoured one.

Not what you're looking for?
