I've started 2 week ago its going to be the start of my third week tomorrow I weighed myself in the week and weighed 77 kgs but I just weighed myself now and I'm 78kgs why have I put on weight when I'm sticking to my calorie count of 1,400 calories.I started off with 81 kgs so I did lose bit of weight but I'm just not sure why I put on 1 kg when I stuck to the calorie count.

Hi.

Firstly any weightloss is a result so congratulate yourself on that!!!

All the research does say that you should weigh yourself weekly, on the same scale at the same time of day wearing similar clothing......is this what you did? If so, your gain may be a hormonal one so don't beat yourself up. If not, bear in mind your weight does fluctuate throughout the course of the day for many reasons, that's why it is always better to weigh yourself first thing in the morning when your food from the previous day has been disgested into the body.

If you're being truthful to yourself with the food you're eating, and your exercise etc then carry on doing what you're doing because it will come off.

Don't lose faith!!!

Thank you for reply! And I just weighed myself and it went down again so you are right it's probably hormonal or something and it does fluctuate so next time I'll weigh myself at the same time thanks for your comment :))

Hi Farah1995,

I agree with everything that Koomie said but would add that as you gain muscle tone your weight loss may slow down a little.

This is not because you are not burning fat, you still are, but because, hopefully, you will be building muscle, which ironically I have been told for the same volume weighs MORE than fat.

This is why so many weight loss programs are reluctant to focus just on weight.

Have you noticed a difference in your body measurements? A general feeling of well being? All of which are positive attributes.

Dont get too hung up on the weight, its only a rough guide and something that is easy to see, the others less so.

The advantage of muscle is that the more you have the more calories you burn, even when just sitting. How wonderful is that!

So keep up the exercise and well done, every step is in the right direction and even when not moving, keep facing where you want to go. You will get there in the end.

xx

Absolutely agree with everything said here. Weight can fluctuate so much at different times of day - I even weighed myself in the middle of the night once (!) and I had put on 2lbs. Weighed myself the next morning and it had gone. It taught me a lesson - stick to once a week, same time, same clothes. Well done you have already lost weight, and good luck with the rest of it.
