Oh no, visitors now staying a week!
Just eat as healthily as you can, andq be portion aware
Hi there- you don't say which diet you are on or how much weight you have already lost- but I have had this problem too. We sort of solved it by being really, really strict on days when we don't have anyone round or go anywhere- this cuts us a bit of slack for socialising. I wondered about what to do when we go away for a week but what I've decided is that I just take a week off and start again when I get back.
I think I've learned a bit about choosing healthy options etc so maybe it won't be as much as I think!
We had a family barbeque and were very strict about only getting the basics- no extras, but they didn't eat as much as we'd hoped and I still finished off the left overs. We did have to throw some away as it was the only way we wouldn't eat it!
My advice would be to forget the diet for a week but try to be sensible- otherwise you are just going to have to tell them, eat different stuff or insist they eat your calorie limit too! It is up to you, but at least you've recognised the problem. good luck and enjoy your visitors!
Hi Jlmitch,
If you find it hard to keep to the letter of your weight loss regime whilst you have visitors, then perhaps focus on keeping to the spirit of it. So, show your visitors you've changed your eating habits somewhat. Let them see that you serve yourself moderate portions of sensible food and that you dance the more calorific foods.
There's lots of tricks that can help. If you're out eating, pass on the starter, perhaps share the least calorific desert with someone. Don't feel you HAVE to leave the plate clean / finish every scrap. Avoid fat-laden dressings.
My other half just doesn't do sweet sugary things, so she never eats cakes. Therefore in offices when someone's leaving or having a birthday, she always assures the giver of the cake that she'll have that later - in fact she usually gives it away later to someone else.
Be a bit resourceful and you can probably reasonably damage-limit the week.
Thanks all. I'll come back to your replies if I feel myself slipping! It's the wine increase I'm worried about as well so I'm going to have to work out a strategy for that!
I drink 2 glasses of wine several times a week and ive still lost a steady pound a week by calorie counting. I add in all ky wine calories. In the past12wks i have lost 15lbs. When im entertaining my daily total shoots up to 2000 and when im alone I refuce to 1200.. so even if you eat or drink too much fir a week , you can get back on track afterwards. You will just have slowed down the weight loss but you wont have ruined it !
Thanks! I've been good so far but now having a glass! I think I'll get away with it today at least as I've been very good on food. You're right though. I've been losing for 5 weeks and 8lb so far gone (last week was zero weight loss but I know some fat went as the belt on my jeans was lose!) so the odd "bad" day won't do too much harm. Roast seaweed snack with wine. Only 24 calories per pack!
