Ready but scared

It seems I have made it my life's mission to try every faddy, wacky, weird and sensible diet out there. I have had success in the very short term I.e. losing 2ish stone of the whole person I need lose. I desperately want to lose the "outer me" and release the "inner me" who wants to live the life she so deserves.

I have physical & mental health problems, some of which are due to my obesity.

I was trawling the web in hope of finding some "kick up the backside" inspiration when I found the NHS 12 week plan. I have read the plan, printed it off, prepared the fridge and cooker/oven for a shock and am now ready to start my adventure. Tomorrow, 21/07/14, is my D-Day.

I am scared of becoming the person I know I should be because I don't know her. I' m terrified of failing, again!!! Failure is a way of life as far as my weight issues go.

I am hoping to find support on these forums and I will return the favour(s).

Wish me luck for tomorrow my soon to be new support network.

I'll check in soon. ;)

It is an adventure of learning about calories, eating sensibly & exercising. Not a short term fix but a sustainable, healthy, happier way of life.

Definitely one day at a time. my tips are to plan meals & shop to them, keep your fridge & food scales onside, use smaller plates & don't get too hungry. If you are looking for increasing exercise c25k is brilliant with an amazing supportive forum.

Good luck - it gets easier once you start to feel the amazing difference & people start to notice!!

Hi Hipster, tomorrow is my D-Day too I have done the same as you made meal plans, printed off the information and am ready to face the dreaded scales and get my butt in to gear! Also I am starting the couch to 5K along with the 12 week plan.

I also feel like I've tried every diet out there, you name it I've given it a go but nothing seems to work long term and it can be disheartening.

We can do this together, I wish you all the luck in the world. I'm using my fitness pal to track what I eat do you have that by any chance?

Don't worry, change is scary but it can be amazing!! :)

Good luck to you.

Thank you for your support.

I had a brief look at couch to 5k. At the moment my aim is to walk 3 - 4 times a week. Aiming for a 5k is too far a stretch but I'm not writing it off.

One step & one day at a time.

Have a great day tomorrow

Thank you, you too best of luck! :)

Good luck! It is a big change to deal with... Take pictures of yourself weekly when you do the weigh ins so you know how far you have come and it will encourage you to stick to the plan!

Good luck and don't be scared! Instead, be excited for the change that's about to happen!!!

All the best, keep us updated xx

Good luck Hipster,

I have been trying to lose weight for ages. But even though I'm.going to the gym and doing the workouts my weight fluctuates.I think my problem is stress related. You will be fine, don't give up.

Good Luck! For activity, if you have some sort of MP3 player or smart phone, the NHS Couch 2 5k running plan is excellent and their Health Unlocked forum is very welcoming and supportive.

I understand about carrying around a whole extra person, i am trying to shed one as well. Currently, i am in a holding pattern as we are moving house. I am thinking my D day will be a few weeks after, once i have the electronics re-established so i can access these forums from home again and the kitchen set up.
