Not all exercise has to be the aerobic type. Are you able to gently walk. I always find walking boosts morale. Put on some music and gently walk. Or try yoga, Pilates or tai chi.? Swimming is also a good all round exercise. I have hip pain in my right hip since having my daughter but I refuse to give into it!! I started the c25k run and am now on week 3 ( I am not trying to infer my hip pain is as bad as yours). I think a little exercise often may help. Building up gradually over time.

Walking is a struggle Don't have much movement in the joint. But I do do some walking but it's slow going but it's better than nothing. Thanks for reply am hoping it well get easier as I lose the weight

I used to have very painful knees until I lost weight - I lost 20 kilos and can't carry a 20kg sack of cat food and I used to carry that around all the time, no wonder my knees hurt!

Download the free app called MyFitnessPal (or sign up to their website) and enter in all your details and it will give you a calorie goal for each day. Log everything you eat and stay under their recommended calories and you will lose weight - it's brilliant!

You partly answered your own. You can walk a bit. I assume you were given exercises related to the operation?

Whatever else you're trying to achieve it's not a marathon so when it hurts, stop. Swimming is said to be good as its non weight bearing and GP might be able to get you some reduced costs at a local leisure centre.

How about "chairobics". There's a lot of choice out there, some more reputable than others. This link might be useful

don't take slimming pills. They're useless. I wont go into detail but I know very few medics who will recommend them except as a last resort.

Above all don't stress - its counterproductive, and don't expect fast results. It's taken me 2 years to lose 2 stone - but that's better than putting it on.

Good luck to you.
