Hello idan- congratulations on the birth of your baby. You say you have put the weight on in the last five months since your baby was born? I don't think there is such a thing as a good fast diet- if it took five months to put on then it isn't going to go overnight. I signed up for the NHS healthy eating plan- I see it as a long term investment for the health of my family as well - so it will be good for you and your baby. Good luck.

Hi

losing weight quickly will end up with you weighing more in the long term than you do now. If you go on the nhs bmi calculator and put in your details, being honest abouthow active you are, the lowest end ofthe calorie range they suggest will normally mean you will lose 2lb a week. My meal mate I an English smart phone app for calorie counting. There are also American ones but they will work differently because they involve putting exercise in as well as food and if you don't do that the calorie allowance will be very very low. My fitness pal is one like that, it's a good data base but can be unreliable because of the exercise element.

If you stick at the suggested calorie allowance on the nhs site you will get into better habits so as you lose weight you eat a bit less each week and when you stop dieting you can still count calories to make sure you don't regain it again. Don't think that if you do a quick diet and then return to normal eating it will work because what you are eating now isn't normal or you wouldn't be gaining weight on it now.

Try to find places you can either go with your baby or where there is a creche you can book. Keeping busy helps with weight loss, plan your meals and shopping and don't forget to enjoy your baby too while you can!

Wait till your baby starts walking, bet you lose weight, trying to keep him in one place, enjoy your life, children grow up too quickly, I am just on my last grandchild, to hold babies I go to church meetings, even the vicars wife has just given birth.

I'd recommend the 5:2 Diet youtu.be/W9Aj6hRYg4A. I lost 20kg in six months, and my daughter is now losing her baby weight at around 3kg a month. She was a size 18 and she's now a 12 and delighted!

Get the free app MyFitnessPal which is excellent, as long as you log everything you eat. It will calculate the calories you need to stay under in order to lose weight. If you're doing 5:2 you stay under 2,000 calories on five days a week and under 500 on two non-consecutive days - it's easier than it sounds.
