MEDS and Weight Gain??

I used to be a lovely 8 stone, size 10 some 4 years ago now, but became ill after a trip to Thailand.

I have since been prescribed lots of tablets, and am now a size 16 weighing 12 stone 8 lbs.

I'm certainly not as active as I used to be, and my diet is really poor, but my diet was ALWAYS poor even when I was a size 10. SO my question is, can all these medications I'm taking cause a weight gain of nearly 5 stone? Or is my sedentary lifestyle to blame?
