I have just done my weekly weigh in and I have lost another pound. Yay!
However, should I not be losing more weight on a weekly basis? I have been exercising regularly and apart from yesterday, I have been sticking to my calorie intake recommended by myfitnesspal.

Hi Charly, It is nice to know that you are regularly losing weight through your exercise and diet program.Do not get discouraged if you lose less weight in some of the weeks and more in others as there might be times when this could happen. What is more important is that you are losing weight on a regular basis and are also exercising regularly. What is going to matter most is the weight lost at the end of the program. So take heart and keep up the good work.
My weight loss is an AVERAGE 1 pound per week. That is a good steady loss. That doesn't mean that I lose one pound every week. Some weeks it's a pound, some weeks nothing, some weeks 2 pounds, some weeks I gain a pound but over the last year the loss has averaged out.
If you lose at this rate then you have more chance of the weight staying off as you will have got into a way of eating that will sustain your weight when you get to target.
Hello Renka, thats so good to hear! I have also heard its more tricky to lose weight if you have less to lose. I only need to lose a stone and a bit. Maybe this is why as well?
Congratulations on your weight loss. 1 pound is a very respectable loss - and more healthy than losing a lot more. Usually most sensible weight-loss plans suggest losing between 1 to 2 pounds per week.
I haven't had a very good week, as I had quite a few 'extras' over the weekend, having had a weekend away, and so I am hoping to lose the weight that I gained (which was 3 pounds!). I'm hopeful it will come off quite quickly and I am getting back on track.
Thankyou and I am glad this is a pretty normal weight loss average.
Everyone has bad days/weeks so don't worry! (I went to Frankie and Benny's yesterday so totally get this lol)
I am sure you will get back on track in no time! Good luck and thankyou again!
Hi charly492,
Weight loss is not a perfectly mathematical thing when it comes to humans, and whilst we generally talk about exercise and calories and stuff like that, there are a myriad of other factors which can impact upon fat storage or fat burning through having an effect upon the hormones that control such body functions.
Just work with what is actually happening.
There are two great things happening - 1) you've stopped gaining weight and as I often point out, generally - for a number of reasons - overweight people become overweightier, and 2) you ARE actually losing weight.
My guess is that as you settle down into your new eating and exercise/activity habits, your weight loss might speed up slightly. But on the other hand, you don't want to lose weight too quickly - your body needs time to adapt to the changes.
You have hit the nail on the head here! I had never considered the fact my body needs to adapt to the changes I have made and you are right, I need to give it time to adjust.
