Anyone been referred to lifestyle coaching by their GP? Does anyone know more about this and how effective it is?
Lifestyle coaching: Anyone been referred... - Weight Loss Support
Lifestyle coaching
This is an article I posted to my community the other day. mensjournal.com/health-fitn...
Full disclosure - I am a health and lifestyle coach. thehealthyplate.org and thyroidlovingcare.com
Even with my obvious bias, I can tell you that using a lifestyle coach to help you craft a plan to reach your goals can be life changing. You can read real-life success stories from people who have used coaching to get what they want out of life whether that be health, lifestyle balance or fulfillment. Doctors often work with us to support their patients to make the changes that will allow them to thrive.
Whilst I am not a lifestyle coach, I am a senior manager in my own field of work, who specialises in delivering results through people.
I am a real believer that having a coach or mentor does give you a real focus plus motivation, together with a measurement plan of success.
I would firmly recommend to people who may be don't have the strategies, understanding or self belief to achieve whatever goal they set themselves.
I went to the Dr for advice and asked if I could have my weight monitored, I work nights and am finding it increasingly difficult without the help and encouragement of a group to lose weight. Where I enjoy my job and the shift I do, trying to lose weight is proving difficult.
When I asked for help I was advised of a HEAL group which is Healthy Eating and Living but wasn't referred - I was given a 12 week gym membership?!?! So no advice or guidance on losing weight just on exercise!!
Any support like the group offered by your Dr would be helpful and effective.
