I started off at 13 stone 11 lbs, arrgghhhh, I'm only 5'3". Started C25k but only lost about 5lbs over the whole programme though I got much fitter and toned up and also hooked in running. Then i found out about My Fitness Pal. Started off on about 1550 cals/day but as I lost weight of course my calorie requirement decreased, and ended up on 1420 cal/day 'earning' extra with exercise, often I used those extra calories too if I was having a big meal or felt like chocolate! 15 months later I am 10 stone 6lbs, I've put on 4 lbs over Christmas but am working on getting rid! MFP really works, I can recommend it wholeheartedly! I run 3 times a week and do aqua fit, Pilates and a Swiss ball or an aerobics / weights workout weekly.

Good luck in your weight loss quest, you will get lots of support from this community!

Some success stories here.

It has taken me several months to lose about 22lb, got another few to go. I am often over 1400, especially on days I do a lot of exercise, but generally I plan meals to be within it. If I am eating out I do not keep to 1400. I have found though thatI do eat less than before.

My exercise has increased a lot although I have always been active. I have started running and about to start C25k, also aquafit and do strength exercises at the gym. Good luck with your journey to weight loss.

Hi I started the NHS 1400 diet mid August weighing 13st and went down to 10st 5lbs by Christmas a total loss of 2st 8lbs. I went from size 16 to size 12. I did stick to it most days bar a couple of meals out and swam for an hour each week and walked more. I didnt often snack as i made sure i was getting at least 5 fruit & veg per day which kept me full - this and variety in food choices was key to success plus actually enjoying the meals. Have managed to maintain my weight since Christmas so fingers crossed the maintenance stage will continue to work.
