Im asking for advice about eating out. Im meeting up with a friend for 'drinks and a bite to eat'. Im in a bit of a panic. Im thinking look for the lowest calorie item on menu, only have one course, dont have any alcohol...What do others think? Thanks

Hi there,I think the thing to keep in your minds eye is that eating out is part of our everyday lives really so you should maybe just have quite a low cal day the day before, don't have anything with a creamy sauce or too many creamy potatoes for your side, always have sorbet or fruit for dessert,I think a small glass of wine as a treat is absolutely fine and you should definitely not put yourself on a guilt trip for meeting friends and enjoying yourself, have a lovely time

I agree with the reply below, I think this should not create the panic but rather be enjoyable! if there is an online menu for the place where you are going to eat then you can always check in advance what is on the menu! if I was you ill go for no starter, then eat a veggie based main, sorbet or fruit for desert as suggested as well as small glass of wine! and maybe lighter lunch that day! :-) have fun with your friend!

I agree with the others but I don't get hung up about it when I eat out. I don't do desserts anyway but can't resist starters. Another option is to have a starter as a main if its a place that does big portions. If you are a white wine drinker then perhaps have a spritzer with sparkling water to make it go further. I am usually driving when out so just stick to water. Try to relax & enjoy though. You are working on a way of life not a penance.

Yes I know you're right! It's not like I'm never going to eat out again - treat it as opportunity to manage it sensibly. Thank you
