No. When I asked my GP why I wasn't losing any weight despite walking on average 5 miles a day he referred me to a nurse who went through my diet with me and introduced me to the 1900 calories diet alongside the 10,000 steps challenge. I didn't feel I was eating a lot but all my exercising was in vain as I was eating the wrong stuff and hoping that my exercise would act alone to counter it. Now I'm on a 1900 calorie diet and I'm finally seeing results though it's early days. My BMI is 28 and I need to get it down to 21 to match my height.

All your exercising was not in vain - active overweight people are less at risk than inactive overweight people.

Thank You. Of course what you say is true but it will be nice when I'm not carrying this extra weight around - though you are of course right. Even if I'm currently carrying these extra pounds around I am giving my cardio-vascular system a good workout.

The mood effects and general toning of exercise you enjoy can help motivate dietary improvements, so it all works together. Plus the exercise is supposed to work on your metabolism. I find interval training especially effective.

Not far to go to get your BMI under 25, good luck.

Thanks!

Hello again. What is interval training? As for mood it's great. I've just completed a 7.5 mile walk in driving wind and rain and feel/felt invigorated - though soaked, I'm yet to find a truly waterproof jacket though the one I have did pretty well. I hope that you are having a good weekend. As for exercise routines I'll consider anything I can fit alongside my walking.
