Hi - I exercise every day at my local gym as they have great classes there. Nursing a shin/calf injury at the moment so just doing low impact until I can run again. Body Attack is a high intensity aerobic workout which is a fave of mine. Its a case of varying your routine every few weeks so you don't get bored. Have recently started body pump which I can definitely recommend.

I run for an hour (11k ish) on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday, do 1 hour of Cardio, (something like Taebo etc) on a Tuesday and Thursday. Cycle for 90 minutes on a Saturday. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday I also do around 30 minutes of strength training (Free Weights etc). I get Sundays off normally :) but we walk or maybe go swimming often, dependent on the weather.

12 Months ago I hardly did anything exercise wise, it's surprising how addictive it can be once you get the bug!

lots of info on this website and links to various things. A lot depends on age and current fitness. I alternate walking/jogging days with strength stuff in the gym. I also spend a lot of time gardening which is good exercise. I had various muscle problems when I started Jog Scotland but it was suggested I got a gym programme done to strengthen core musles. this has been a big help. I also do about 10 minutes general yoga type stretches every morning.

I do karate twice a week (sometimes 3 times) and an exercise video 3 or 4 times a week but that's only about 25 minutes. I also do some stretching for the karate. I have only added the exercise videos last week but I am already noticing that the are not so difficult as they were at the beginning :) The karate is great for cardio and strength. It's quite a workout, especially when you get to the higher grades. It's also great fun!

Hi Tessababy,

I try to get to the gym about 3 to 4 times per week, and a typical gym session for me is to do 20 to 30 minutes of running on the treadmill (I do 4 minute intervals of running at 9.0 followed by 1 minute walking at 5.0, and repeat those intervals for the duration of my treatmill session), then I usually cycle for about 20 minutes, and then I finish off with between 10 to 20 minutes of cross training. That usually totals about a 60 minute session.

I also try to walk daily - a 50 minute walk typically.

I do usually have 1 day off exercise per week, just to 'rest' my body.

I haven't done any organised classes - i.e. aerobics or body blast or anything like that - for ages. I actually enjoy the more retro Aerobics classes, as opposed to the more modern Zumba and Body Blast type of classes, so I changed to attending the gym instead.

Good luck with your goals for this week. Great that you are enjoying the walking.

Regards,

Lowcal :-)

Thanks all for your replies. You certainly inspired. Must say, I've done lots more walking at a faster pace this week and will continue plus this week will do workouts.

I do a 5k run in the morning. I do a 10 mile hike with friends once a week ( I do not run on these days ) I recently started an evening walk of 3 miles. I do 100 sit ups and 50 push ups a day. My gym reopens in Oct after 8 month rebuild so should be good. Tessababy you got to make it part of your day like washing up.
