however I'm stuck I want to be "good" struggle daily with food issues and CANNOT get myself into the gym for love nor money I hate it with a passion. Toying with the idea of getting a personal trainer to come to my home and show me how to excercise me....has anyone else an irrational fear of excersing in the gym?

Hi Cassius, what exactly are your fears regarding the gym. I have a friend I persuaded to come to the gym with me and she actually really enjoyed it. There are some women only gyms around. Also there full of skinny people in tight Lycra leotards. People in there are all shapes and sizes. The people are really friendly too. However you don't have to go to the gym to get fitter. You can walk, run, jog, take classes such as Pilates, yoga, belly dancing, anything. I suggest you keep trying different excel isles until you find some that you really enjoy. Good luck x

Hi cassius I have tried going to a gym but it does'nt work for me either I prefer doing an excercise vidio at home, I can recomend any of the rosemary conley ones good fun and different abilities and 'normal' people who have lost weight doing the exercises. Swimming is good and also any kind of walking. Have you looked at the 12 week 'losing weight getting started' plan on this sight lots of tips and it does'nt feel like a diet just help to make good healthy choises. Best of luck. ali-may

Hello cassius I have been a member of many different larger gyms and joined up for six months and a year and then never used them as I got bored, didn't really know what I was doing etc.

But then my husband found a smaller gym filled with lots of friendly people, they are mostly a personal training studio and they do boot camps too. I have had personal training sessions and found these to be the best use of time and money, there is someone there to encourage and advise you and I find I get more out of an hours workout with a PT than if I spent three hours in the gym on my own! you just have to find somebody you feel comfortable to train with and it is surprising after a few sessions how your fitness improves. Hope this helps :->

bottom line: don't do whatever you don't enjoy doing!!it won't work.

a little is better than none, so: walk? swim? wii- exercise at home..anything really, or just clean the house every day (;))
