After trying a few, I found just simple calorie counting worked out best for me. Avoid as much processed food as you can as it's full of salt and fill up with lots of veg and salads (You can have a massive plate of veg and grilled chicken or a small sausage roll, it makes the choice easier lol).

I gave up fizzy pop as I found that seemed to make me hungry and go snacking (even diet pop) so now I drink at least 2L of water a day which seems to be helping me along.

The best thing I did was starting to weigh my food - I keep the food scales on the worktop now so I'm not guessing if a piece of cheese is 30g. You'll be amazed how much you can underestimate the calories in something! It also helps with portion control, or lack of it - something that got me piling on the weight in the first place.

Good luck, just keep imagining how good you'll feel if you can first of all halt the gain then start to lose that 15kg :)

Hi Yamsteroo,

Thanks for your reply, I am so happy today because I lost 7 pounds in 4 days by following GM diet. I feel so good now!!

Hi kukkunu,

If you go to the NHSChoices web-pages and in particular the live well lose weight ones, you'll find lots of helpful and free advice about weight loss, including a 12 week plan.

It's not exactly a "diet" plan, but diets aren't always that helpful because generally people put the weight back on after the diet is over.

The key to losing weight is to work out (and change) how your put the weight on. What were you eating? How much were you eating? How often were you eating, etc., etc.

If change the 'bad' things about that, you'll buck the trend of continuing to put on weight, which is what - for a number of reasons - overweight people generally do.

So it's more about changing your eating and exercise/activity habits, or really a lifestyle change, rather than just "going on a diet" that makes the real long term difference to your body weight and your body fat percentage.

Good luck with your weight loss efforts.

Hellow Doikosp ,

Thank you very much !! I lost 7 pounds in 4 days !! I feel truly amazing. I am confident now that I can reduce my weight within few months :) that makes me really happy . You are absolutely right, gaining weight is purely based on our regular diet , for me I ate a lot of fried chicken during the last year at the same time because of the mobility problem I could not done enough exercises. Hope I can control my diet. Anyway thanks for your support :)
