One curious observation is that the nearer I get to my final goal of 12st/75kg, the more difficult / the slower the weight loss seems to be, even to the point of [almost] reaching a plateau.
Has anyone else experienced this and how do I kick-start a decent loss rate again? Suggestions welcome.

Hi johnsonfamily38,
Well at one level yes, because as you become slimmer, your (reduced) body mass needs less calories to maintain it, so the same level of calorie input will result in less of a calorie deficit.
And yes, we all get some plateaux, usually fairly temporary, as for one reason or another our hormones aren't getting on with the fat burning stuff (e.g. sleeplessness, stress, infections, alcohol, whatever).
My view would be to reduce the calories a bit more (without getting into too rapid a weight loss) or up the exercise/ activity a bit.
Another school of thought is that your body has kind of got used to your weight loss regime and that making some changes to the types of food you're eating and/or the types of exercise/activity will give it a kind of boost back into the changing from an overweight body to a slim one - a bit like re-focusing it onto the task in hand.
Good luck with the 'home-run' on your weight loss journey.
My weight loss may have reached a plateau but I’ve still managed to hit a couple of targets – my calculated fat % is now well into the "normal" and I’ve lost an amazing 11 inches in total off my waist.
