Hi, I’ve recently been prescribed Metformin and I’d like to know your experience with it please? Have you seen any results and what is the best time to take it?

metformin? Have you seen any results?
Metformin was amazing for me, synchronized my periods within a few months of taking, and finally got pregnant after 2 years of trying. I had to take 3 tablets a day, so breakfast, lunch and tea time
Hi, I have been diagnosed with insulin resistance & pcos and now I am taking metformin as well. I started with 1/2 pill daily. I didn't feel so good when my dose increased to 2 pills, but later on, it improved. I have been taking this medication for almost 4 months, and during that time, I have lost weight from 72 kg to 64.5 kg. So, I definitely see the results. My only suggestion is to take the pills with food. I experienced diarrhea and I'm currently taking a one-week break from metformin. After that, I will resume taking it.
I didn’t ovulate myself at all for around 18 months to 2 years. I started Metformin in the May and by the October I would sporadically ovulate (sometimes 30 day cycles but could be 70). I then needed Letrozole as well to ovulate every 30 days and conceive.
At first I did get diarrohea with it but that stopped. Also if you drink alcohol - I wouldn’t recommend taking it if you are having more than a couple and ‘forget’ to take your dose that evening 😄.
Hi, I started Metformin in January. 1 x 500mg tablet I take with my evening meal. I lost just over 1 stone without too much effort. Was lucky didn’t have any side effects. Weight has stabilised now and have more to loose but I’m happy to be well on my way.
Metformin has also gave me regular bleeds every 28/29 days. Not 100% if ovulating but not too worried about that for now. Strange as I’m not used to regular periods! I used to go months without one and when one did appear it was hardly a period.
All the best!
