hello friends,

I'm experiencing irregular periods since I shifted to UK back from my country India. In the month of April I had periods that didn't stop for a month and continued till the 1st week of May and now since May, June, July I'm having only spottings some times. I haven't visited the GP yet as I'm really scared about the surgeries and all. it would be really helpful if anyone has experienced these symptoms please do guide me. thank you so much

I suffer with pcos and the symptoms o have got and are common: facial hair (really bad ) .... weight gain ..... irregular periods.... and some times I get really bad pains like period pains but worse.... not everyone has the same symptoms .... i know your scared but i would defo go and see gp as your irregular periods might be something else.... so it's always best to get it checked out.

Hi, I have recently been diagnosed with PCOS (polysistic ovary syndrome) due to lack of periods. It took me almost a year to get this diagnosed and I really had to push to get an ultrasound to see whether I had cysts in my ovaries and also they just asked me to do a blood test for my testosterone levels. I don't have some symptoms like being overweight/excess hair or much pain. But had 3 periods 3 yrs ago, 2 periods last year, one this year. They don't do surgery so I wouldn't worry about that. My doctor has advised me to go on the contraceptive pill to encourage periods to keep my womb lining healthy (not real periods but gives you a bleed). It could be this but maybe not I really would recommend going to see a doctor to get some support or a diagnosis, if you are worried and feel something is wrong definitely reach out for help x

Hi there

I recommend seeing your GP.

Don’t feel scared of the surgery. There are very careful steps being taken to protect staff and patients alike.

They are trained professionals and will look after you xx

Hello Lavina, we weirdly have the same symptoms. I also relocated to the uk 2 years ago from Nigeria and I have been having periods for 14 days, 23days and the longest now 45 days straight, this has been happening for 1 year. Unlikely others who don’t get periods at all, mine do come every month but last for weeks and sometimes the whole month, I’ll have a few days of freedom and then it’s back to another 17 days of bleeding. I saw a gynaecologist who confirmed I had PCOS but after multiple scans they still have not seen or found the cause of the long excessive bleeding. I have terrible bloating, headaches mood swings and simply just not myself. I understand how you feel but I strongly advice you see your doctor as they’re the only ones that can help.

oh boy! This is slightly me! Moved to the uk from Nigeria in oct 2020, had period nov and dec and stopped all of a sudden, at first I thought it was stress and environment change so I watched myself.. I didn’t get a period till June 2021 and next one was dec 2021.. it’s been 2 periods a year since then till now. Gp says it’s ‘mild to moderate’ pcos. I’m currently on metformin.. how are you coping? Anything worked for you? This stuff is just making me all worked out!
