Hi, I went to a fertility specialist. He diagnosed me with pcos. He was very knowledgeable on the subject, I felt like a lot made sense. He put me on Metformin (at the time, to conceive) but he said a lot about insulin levels etc and the Metformin would level it out. With exercise and healthy eating ( which I had done before with little effect) it started to drop off me. A stone in 2 months. I couldn't believe it! Since having my little girl tho, my GP said I couldn't have it anymore. Didn't really give a clear answer. So now, weight back on and really hard to shift! Anyone any advice on what I could do?

Were you given metformin for insulin resistance, or in case you had it? If your gp doesn't think you have insulin resistance you could request a test and ask them what they would suggest. If they refuse you could ask the receptionist if you could make an appointment with another gp, or switch to a different one if you feel yours isn't listening.
Metformin shouldn't just be taken to aid weight loss though, so if you're not insulin resistant you shouldn't be taking it. Following a low GI diet and exercising regularly is the best way to achieve that, there are some books people have mentioned in other posts that may help.
I’d try and have a word with your GP about it as I’m not sure why that is? I’m guessing your fertility specialist prescribed it to help with conceiving and since you’re little girl your GP thinks it’s no longer needed but I think you can still take it to help with insulin levels generally
