Hi,

I've had PCOS for 10 years now - I was diagnosed when I was 16 after a 9 month absence of periods - which have never come back (lol). I take Rigevidon for withdrawal bleeds but I have noticed they're not lasting as long recently, I only have a 'period' for 2 days maximum. I have been on and off the pill over the 10 years because my doctor previously said I need a minimum of 3 withdrawal bleeds to reduce the risk of ovarian cancer (Is this true?), especially since the rules of taking the pill have changed now & you can take them back to back.

Anyway, I've found that even when I do not take the pill for months, my periods to not come back and at the time [Age 15/16] I wasn't bothered about the prospect of children but my GP did say my left side was heavily cysted and I have no other symptoms of PCOS, I am conscious that my lack of periods possibly mean a lack of ovulation. My gp says no tests will be done to see whether I am fertile or not, and although I'm not trying for a child currently, I feel the future regarding children very uncertain.

I was just wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation?

Thank you :)

Periods mean nothing as you can ovulate without one and having one doesnt mean you ovulate (which was me as they were relatively regular). You do need 3-4 periods a year to keep your uterus healthy. I take 3 months of yasmin (combined pill) as it reduces the symptoms further.
