Walking in the countryside, by the sea or in city parks can be a great way to combat anxiety and stress.

Does anyone else enjoy walking and just taking in the scenery and wildlife?

I find that it helps me get completely away from the thoughts that are circulating and start to take in and be apart of what is around me.

First I walked through a park with flower beds along a seaside promenade and got this shot of a bee collecting pollen. I think his shiny black head is amazing, it looks as it is made of plastic or painted black metal. The bright yellow shapes you can see on his legs are sacks to collect pollen. His yellow furry thorax is so bright it could be a child's new teddy bear.

The camera gives us a chance to look more closely at insects and other small beings and be amazed at their intricate details.

I then walked along the beach and shells in coral pinks, greys and ivories caught my eye and drew it to the tide line of crystal clear water as it lapped on the sand which the tide had washed into perfectly even ripples stretching along the beach.

Herring gulls stood around preening their feathers, their strange white eyes on me to see if I posed any sort of threat or if they could carry on preening.

A little girl ran into the crowd of gulls and they all took off together, their wings silloetted against a mid summer blue sky.

Yes definitely!

Like a lot of people, the times I’m most anxious or depressed I just want to hide away indoors. But getting out in the fresh air and experiencing nature makes a huge difference. One of the few things that does! Great photo x
