I’ve been referred to a nhs gynaecologist, I really don’t know what to expect at my appointment. I am already on metformin. I take the pill to induce periods as I haven’t had a natural one for years. My main symptom is no natural period and I had cysts in my ovaries when I got diagnosed 4 years ago. My main worry is about having children in the future. Has anyone got any advice.

Sounds all good to me - metformin and pill are both great to manage symptoms. It is good if a gyn scans the ovaries from time to time to see if the cysts are behaving. For kids: no natural period means you are not ovulating. Don't worry, ovulation can be induced with medication, so you are rather likely able to have kids with a little bit of help Don't worry too much, pcos ladies are even thought to be able to conceive later in life as we usually have quite a big ovarian reserve. Good luck on your journey!
Hi - I am in exactly the same position. I have been referred to a NHS gynaecologist this week due to lack of periods. I had an ultrasound 2 years ago which confirmed cysts on my ovaries and therefore I was diagnosed with PCOS. I have since had another ultrasound in April 2019 which showed no cysts and therefore I have now been told I don’t have PCOS despite not having a period since Feb 2018.
I’m not sure what to expect from this gynaecology appointment, as like you I am worried about conceiving in the future. Any advice would also be greatly appreciated!!
Hi, I was diagnosed about 3 years ago now when I started trying for a baby. Id had one natural period in the year I had been off the pill. I was put on metformin and clomid (makes you produce more eggs) I conceived on the 4th month and had twins 17 months ago. Try not to worry as it can and does happen xxx
It’s really rare not to conceive just due to pcos so try not to worry.
You don’t need regular scans on your ovaries as the cysts are only a symptom and not the cause and can come and go but sadly it is still thought that they are the reason for pcos so if you don’t have them you don’t have pcos which is untrue
