PLEASE HELP

Hi all,

I’m looking for advice really, before I see my GP as i’m always hesitant to go regarding issues like this

I had the contraceptive implant fitted in the middle of last August and I had it taken out in February due to mood, weight gain and skin related problems. I thought having it taken out would end my suffering but it’s just been worse since.

I haven’t had a period since it was removed and didn’t have a period while I had the implant (except from the first month). I’ve been having vaginal dryness, mood changes, weight gain and a few other symptoms that might not be connected but not sure. I am not pregnant, i’ve done many tests to be sure and also not very sexually active at my age even with a boyfriend (sorry for tmi).

I’m concerned I may have PCOS or perhaps even premature menopause (im 17). Please any information would be great. The implant was my first form of hormonal contraception. Also had high blood pressure whilst on it.

Please any information would be appreciated, very worried and feel scared.

Implant is awful from a pcos point of view and can make all the symptoms worse and if you have gained weight this can make symptoms worse again.

When did your mum hit the menopause as it tends to be similar down the line - it’s quite rare for this if you are young.

I would go back to your GP and explain all the symptoms you have - issue is with pcos is that the cysts on the ovaries are only a symptom and can come and go and blood tests can be hit and miss too but you can be diagnosed by symptoms alone- look at the NICE guidelines on pcos

Thanks so much for the reply, my mum was sterilised due to an ectopic pregnancy, no sure when she hit the menopause or if she has x
