Ultrasound Scan

I had my ultrasound scan today. The lady said with me being overweight, the scan wasn't showing anything so I had an internal done and she said my left ovary and my uterus are fine but she couldn't see my right ovary. Is this anything to worry about do you think?

Hello. This usually is nothing to worry about. For whatever reason (weight, fluid buildup), this sometimes happens. If you have another scan in future, it will probably show up ok. I did have this happen to me once, where the sonographer couldn't see an ovary, but it was picked up next time. Carrying extra weight unfortunately does not help, but there are also other possible reasons why it can't be picked up.

Thanks for your reply, i haven't been on here for a while so i am just seeing it now! The lady said she could not see my right ovary and when i asked if i needed to come back she said 'oh i am sure its fine' and that was the end of my appointment. My GP referred me to a dietitian and that's pretty much it.

It's still annoying that she brushed you off: she could have tried other scanning methods or asking a colleague to have a look. Just because she can't see it, it doesn't mean everything can be assumed to be ok x
