Tofu Burgers

I made some Tofu Burgers for tonight's dinner. They were quite nice but I'm not sure whether I really like the texture of Tofu.

It's a very easy recipe and I will make them again but will add a little nut butter next time. I had some veg and Quinoa with it.

Thank you Jerry, you can't have Quinoa without spices etc, it gives it a kick.😀

This looks great. I know what you mean about tofu. No amount of draining stops it being soft lol but it’s healthy. If you fry it in oil it has a better texture but not sure that’s the way to go. Love the veg and I could eat that dinner right now! 😋

Thank you Ali. Yes even though it was a firm organic tofu it still felt quite soft. I fried them in coconut oil. I also love veg, can't get enough of it.😋

Have you tried seitan ?

No I haven't, is it better? I have a recipe for a tagine that uses Seitan.

Well it has a firmer texture but I can’t eat it for some reason I really don’t like it so was just wondering what you’re experience of it was haha 😁🌱

No I've never tried it. Tofu I found a little strange I have to say, I'm not 100% sure ha ha

Sainsburys has a lovely "chorizo style" seitan, great crumbled on pizza. I've tried their curry flavour pieces too, very nice texture to add to a spicy dish.

I'm really only fond of tofu for breakfast, either silken tofu made like scrambled eggs or Tofoo smoked tofu in fat slices just dry fried sprinkled with black salt, nice easy way to add eggy flavour to a sausage or mushroom butty 👍🏻

I might give that black salt another try with a mushroom and sausage sandwich. Sounds nice. I love smoked tofu it’s delicious and it has a much firmer texture doesn’t it. 😁🌱

Much and the flavour really makes it. The plain is just too wishy washy.

If you fry till crispy in a bit of oil it's nice but I often don't want that much oil.

I salt each side and sort of press it in by hand

They look lovely Alicia, love the way they stay together so well :>

Thank you Debs, think they stayed together because I used a burger press and fried them.

Its a tricky one really, because they now say not to have too much Tofu as it is so high in calcium and not good for the kidneys. Its so hard to know what to eat for the best

Foid is very difficult, you really don't know what to eat for the best. I didn't know that about calcium so thank you for that, appreciated.🙏xx

I didn’t know that either I thought calcium was a good thing? 🤷🏻‍♀️

It's actually now just triggered something I'd forgotten, must be age lol🤣.

As Kitten-whiskers has mentioned about calcium, I remember my husband having kidney problems i.e. making stones, the doctors told him not to eat too many peas because if the high level of calcium.
