My wife turned vegan at the New Year. One thing she said she would miss are croissant. Anyway with friends visiting at the weekend I noted that Sainsburys now sell vegan croissant and decided to give them a try. Expectations were low because anything but the real thing regarding criossant-wise usually go straight in the bin.
They came in a pack of 6, and very poorly they were individually wrapped in plastic. Quite dreadful packaging, imo.
That said the vote amongst friends was a unanimous yes. These were actually very tasty and a good replacement.
The list of ingredients did not look too bad. This is not a health food! But once in a blue moon if it saves an animal or three from being slaughtered that's fine by me.

Its a very good sign, unless they are gluten free I won't be able to try them, but maybe in time they will introduce GF and Vegan stuff (I know its a lot to ask)
I am out of touch with butter-soaked croissant, obviously. But my memory of them is to leave an unwanted residue in the mouth. These vegan croissant did not have that same clawing remnant.
It’s well worth asking in coffee shops if the croissants are vegan. Lots of coffee shops in Italy sold vegan croissants when I was there recently and you wouldn’t have known the differences they may well do them in the UK. I’m pretty sure jus roll croissants are also vegan so you don’t have to miss out on the croissant front if you’re vegan (sainsburys sell those too).😄
