I saw a can of black Italian chickpeas in a local independent supermarket and decided to try them. I use Indian black chickpeas quite a lot but these were new to me. (the internet tells me they are larger)
I just put them in a stew with a lot of peppers I needed to use up. They have have a nice strong flavour and real crunchyness

This looks a really great stew and it has a wonderful warming colour. The black chickpeas sound really interesting too and I'll look out for them as I gently fry chickpeas with spices in olive oil as a healthy snack sometimes, so the black ones sound perfect for this. So thanks for sharing.
