Well one should find out why the consultant has been changed first. Has he given up this clinic? Is the next consultant more suitable for the type of medical condition that your daughter has? He might have more experience in this area. Ask questions first. It might be in the interest of your daughter to have the new consultant. He might have the expertise that is needed for your daughter's condition. I am in the middle of changing hospital to be with a new consultant who has the expertise I will need. Though I am lucky I will still have my previous consultant overseeing everything. So look for the reason behind the change. Explain it to your daughter and in time she will adjust. I know I will have to also. It is not easy. Good lucky! There is a reason behind the change.

John has to change his consultant very soon after 12 years because his consultant is retiring...even John is quite apprehensive about this .... :-(

as mg15 has said there could be good valid reasons for changing but you need to know why... so talk to the consultant who has been seeing your daughter..you should be able to contact him/her through his/her secretary...

all the best

My consultant rheumatologist changed about four or five years ago. The reason, the first one was retiring. My previous consultant told me about the change and about the new chap's experience and expertise, and my current consultant even has a clinic at my local hospital so that I don't have to travel into town with all the problems of parking. I was always happy with my first consultant, but I can't sing the praises of my lovely rheumatologist too highly. So, hopefully, it will not be the disaster your daughter might be worrying about, and turn out OK in the end. I hope so.
