Anyone have any advice on how to reduce the scars? Or any make-up that will cover them while they subside?
Hello I recently suffered a bout of Vasculit... - Vasculitis UK
Hello I recently suffered a bout of Vasculitis and have been left with scars on my legs.
I was sent to the Red Cross nurse by my GP, the teach you how to apply camouflage make-up which you can then get on prescription from the GP. It works very well. I used it for my Vitiligo. I have patches of pigment free skin. They do use it for scars too. Hope this helps.
I only have experience of Bio-Oil for reducing scars, I used it on my operation scar in 2008 and it was very successful. Not sure if it will help you too Lucia, but maybe it might be worth a go. I used it regularly over quite a long period of time.
I was prescribed Dermatix which is a silicone gel (but you can get it in sheets etc) after I had surgery a few years ago and also was offered make up classes. It reduces scarring and keyloid tissue and needs to be used daily for a peroid of weeks; it's also colourless. You can buy it yourself or get it on prescription.
I'm not sure if it would be suitable in this case (I just let my vasculitis scars fade over time) but perhaps a word with your nurse might help with the answers.
I asked a similar question about the scars on my arms. I've only been using the Bio oil recommended for a couple of days, but I think it has already made a difference. Especially on a dry scar that had been there for some time. The herbal shop in town also backed the suggestion of manuka honey - and said that I should be able to find it as a cream if I didn't want to massage the honey straight in.
Thanks for all your help!
