I've been living with Churg-Strauss for eight years and have been up and down the pred doses in that time. For the last few months I've been experiencing sores in my nose that bleed. I thought they were cold sores but now I'm not so sure. Both sides of my septum are sore and bleeding pretty much all the time now. It's a real nuisance but not in the same league as other CSS symptoms. Does this sound like a vasculitis thing? I'd be grateful for any thoughts.

Sores in my nose....
It does.. I should have your nose checked as soon as you can to be on the safe side. It is usual for people with WG to have problems with their noses so I think talking it over with your consultant is the best thing to do.
hi, are they actual sores? I only ask because i get what are affectionally known as "crusties"
they are nasal debri usually dark red and when you move them they bleed. this is part of my vascilitis. I have wg.
regards,
sandra.
Yes I've also had sores in my nose and used to get cold sores around my nose area. I too have churg Strauss. Since I started all my treatment I get them a lot less frequentlt
Thanks for your replies I am seeing consultant on 26 Oct and will ask him about it then.
Hi,
I too have CSS and sometimes get an extremely dry nose (inside) which can be uncomfortable but I've not had any bleeding (touch wood!).
Tbh my nose alternates between being either 33% really dry, 33% really drippy or 33% normal! (for the pedantic, the other 1% is when I'm asleep and I can't tell what it's like!).
I have had CSS since 2009 and similar symptoms since, i.e.crusting and bleeding in the left nostril. Blood only appears when I blow my nose, loosen congealed blood and some crusting. My nose is blocked most of the time, the left side through nasal debris and the right side by a polyp. The polyp is a nuisance because it seeps mucus without me knowing at times and can be embarassing in company if I don't realise Ernie is making an appearance :). Also it would be great to sleep with my mouth shut again! I don't worry about the blood at this stage but would definitely see my GP if my nose bled freely anytime. To reduce the risk of infection my GP has given me Naseptin Nasal Cream, which I use 2/3 times a day.
About 3 months ago I also started getting spots similar to a rash on my nose, which seem to have taken up residence and at times invite their friends round. A few have taken up position on my lower forehead, presumably for a better view! For the rash my GP has prescribed Dalacin Topical Solution (Clindamycin phosphate) and said it may take 2/3 months to clear. It would be interesting to know if anyone has had a similar problem, possibly with a more effective treatment. These spots are annoying as I need a blemish-free fizog to impress my sci-fi friends. So, in the meantime, if anyone can offer advise on what is best to use to cover these blemishes up when I go to sci-fi charity events it would be most appreciated. My next appearance is 20th Oct for MacMillan CancerTrust so not much time to experiment.
Trust my missive has been some help laidbackreader. Best wishes and luck to all.
