Hi Happy Easter to you all .

Looking for some advice again please. OH has GPA diagnosed 3 years ago and had usual treatment. Now on AZA 100 msg. He has no other illnesses and the GPA did not affect any other organs. He was initially treated for pneumonia.

He now has been having a few nose bleeds , blood in his tissue but only when he blows his nose which he does a lot! This happens in the evenings. They don’t last for long and it’s only one nostril. He feels well otherwise. Could this be due to continual nose blowing ? He is due an appointment in May .

He does steam etc which helps with the blocked feeling and uses Vaseline.

Thank you for your help

Sounds normal for a GPA sufferer involved with sinuses. You're doing the right things, maybe look at using a Neilmed pot (google it)

Thank you so much .. Happy Easter to you

All very normal. I get mine almost daily. I was using a Neil med, but I now use sterimar and a steroid spray twice daily

Almost identical as myself, I just increase my prednisolone by 10mg for a week and it's sorted.

He is not on any prednisone at the moment and it’s difficult to speak to anyone. Do you increase and then slowly taper or are you on prednisone anyway? Thank you for reply.

Hi yes my normal pref is 15mg per day for past 5 yrs, I am taking 25 now as I'm having nose bleeds too, if I need more than a week I'd taper 5mg for a week. If just a week I'd just go back to my 15mg as norm.

Everybody is different but it works for me.

When I have serious relapse the Doc puts me on 60mg and that's weeks of slow tapering.

Hope all is well soon

Take care the both of you .

Sfs

Hi. I've been prescribed Naseptin Nasal Cream by my Doctor, it's really good. I use a cotton bud to apply it, and to reach the upper part of my nose. You can apply it up to four times a day. Nadine99's post about using NeilMed Sinus Rinse is a good idea too. This is the combination I use to control my nasal problems. Stay safe.

Use a nasal rinse like NeilMed and try Not to blow nose as much.

I keep telling him that but it falls on deaf ears. Thank you for your reply and suggestions. Stay safe and well .

I’ve had GPA (Wagner’s) for 36 years & have always had nose bleeds (they’re the least of my difficulties though) sometimes too heavy where I need hospital but mostly just get through them, never blow the nose use Vaseline at night & naseptine during attacks, good luck

Sounds like you have had a really rough ride with GPA . It’s certainly a disease that keeps you on your toes. What get me is the NHS site that downplays the condition.

Hope you keeping well at the moment and safe x

Hi, so sorry to hear about this. I was prescribed Budesonide. It has stopped my nosebleeds (more like little “leaks” than full on gushing nose bleeds). I mix it with saline and inhale through my nose (sinuses). Works great, but it is a steroid GOOD LUCK. HANG IN.
