Bilirubin levels.

Hi, has anyone else had high bilirubin levels. I was diagnosed 4 years ago with gpa. This is the first time my bilirubin has came back very raised. I have an emergency appointment Friday with the rheumatologist consultant and the viable tissue nurse. Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

My bilirubin levels were raised and I had a liver scan that showed some liver damage. I was on azathioprine and steroids at the time.I have had another liver scan recently and there is no change and still no need for intervention.

Hi Vqueen. Hope you are well. Yes I had raised Bilburin levels not long after ai stopped taking steroids. As you know I have GPA too. I had a scan and they said I had slightly non alcoholic fatty liver. The Consultant just said “let’s monitor” that was about 3/years ago. She did say at the time it was quite common. Since taking statins (again as a result of steroid use) the bilburin has stabilised. Let us know how you get on. Nick.

Thank you both for your replies. Fingers crossed its not as bad as the nurse was thinking it may be. I'll update after my appointment. Hope you are both well.
